Phillips is still young in ruckman terms.
Happy to see him getting senior games this year as part of his education.

I don't buy into that notion at all. He's senior depth that may come good.

Ruckman do retire older than most, but that's been on the decline in recent times. Part of that would appear to be the evolution of the position with multiple rule changes (centre circle, rotations and subs and back again), but a guy like him has six good years if he can be an average player.

Right now, he's way below that.

I don't get it.
If they knew Kruezer was not playing then why not have Jaksch or Jones as your emergency and Casboult plays 2nd ruck.

They must be using Jamo or Rowe as the second forward option if Kruezer isn't playing.

Doesn;t make sense coz Rowe and Jamo are cooked as AFL players.

I'm tipping kruezer is playing.

We're talking about why Phillips is getting a game, and if Kreuzer is fully match fit, not if he's going to miss out.

Jez was saying he sat out open training, which is a very light run the day before, but that was largely true of round 1 as well. I'm not sure that means anything unless he's been sitting out the main sessions as well.

Dogs play fast footy all over the ground.
Lumberers will be caught out.
Cripps couldn't keep up last week. He needs a stoppage based game to have maximum influence.
Our midfield is one paced and unless we can control the footy when we have it, minimize turnovers and get better value for inside 50s, this will get ugly very early on.
Looking forward to seeing the Bont play. He and Cripps are going to be superstars in a couple of years.

Have read a few suggestions that Kreuzer is struggling for fitness. Is there any confirmation of this? Maybe Phillips isn't playing because Kreuzer is unfit, but rather because Bolton likes to have 2 ruckmen.

His game time has been going up by about 5% each week, though in terms of actual minutes and intensity I'm not sure the difference is quite as significant.

In terms of structure, Bolton's been far less patient with other aspects of our shape and execution, so I'm not sure why Phillips is getting a free pass.

I think it's a fitness thing, but it's not like we've got a whole host of inviting forward options to turn to at present. If we did, I think they'd just have Levi pick up the slack and rotate through the bench a bit.

In what ways? It feels like our structure and game plan has been consistent throughout the first 3 rounds.

Sorry, that should read 'the execution of our shape', as in he's flicked Buckley, Whiley, Rowe and Jamison pretty ruthlessly at times.

He's got favourites, he's only human in that respect, but Phillips would appear to be a minor blind spot.

Bolton has blind spots. Jimmae doesn't. If only Jimmae would point Bolton's out to him.

It might be something to do with development.

Hate the Bulldogs. Can't stand them. At least losing to them will be a little easier to stomach with flog Robert Murphy not playing. He'll probably still write a smartarse column about how great it is to beat Carlton though.

So I'm not the only person who thinks Robert Murphy is a wanker?

So when you say "highEST order", you mean that none are higher? You rate him level or bigger wanker than:

Dyson Heppel
Wayne Carey
Tim Watson
Luke Darcy
Dwayne Russell
Tony Jones
Matthew Lloyd
Brad Scott
Basil Zemplas
Mark Robinson

???

I could go on. You guys are super harsh. You may not love him, but fair dinkum.... Wanker of the highest order....
