Is it too early to bring in Sumner?
Probably on second thought.
Lets give him and Plow a couple of weeks and bring them in against the pin cushions..

Probably a week too early at least, because it sounds like he blew up a bit at times during his first full VFL match.

How has Jaksch been performing in the VFL? Surely it is worth bringing him in. We really need another tall up forward.

Not too badly. Been playing both ends. Apparently his contested marking has been pretty good.

Happy to bring he, Plowman and maybe Cunningham in. Plowman looked a class above and did very well, depends on match fitness. Cunningham had 21 disposals, 12 contested, 9 hardball gets, 3 clearances, 7 handball receives. Sumner is looking good too, might need more time in the twos for match fitness.

COACH'S VIEW - Cunningham
"First possession around stoppages was impressive, his ability to move away from clearances and stay involved in the contest was good especially for a young player."

Happy to give him a run.

Those stats don't read well for him in terms of how he gets his uncontested possessions; I hope he's finding some footy in general play as well.

I don't always rate uncontested possessions.......

Gibbs had 20 Uncontested Possesions to 4 Contested Possesions last week...... look how well he went!

I don't rate or not rate any form of possession these days, I just try to contextualise them. I think he's done well to win possessions the way that he has because it means he's winning first use and bursting away from the stoppages, but I want him to be able to contribute away from that because linking up and running into space to create an option is the another spot for his pace to be used and will create goals.

I'm sure the coaches are working with him on that.

Vojo-Rainbow apparently had a good game and has an impressive pre season. Maybe he should be given a crack as well.

Well it's officially Jaksch vs. Jones for a spot up forward this week, unless we take the 'red pill' again

Im coach and.....

Im putting weitering in forward line, and Casboult down back.
Walker is also forward and so is Daisy.
I have Byrne Jammo Casboult 2E and Buckles down back. Oh and Simmo.
Buckles is not allowed to kick without taking a nano second to think. Think..then kick was on his hypnosis tape.

I'm really looking forward to the first quarter :-).

In truth, I'm still looking forward to seeing the same things I hope to see every week:
1) A clear (albeit developing) game plan
2) Intensity, consistency from the senior blokes
3) Some good signs from the younger blokes to indicate they have a long term future at a successful Carlton.

This means that I want to see:
- us competitive at every contest for four quarters, even if we are being smashed
- some well structured plays that move the ball with intent
- a fair bit of one-on-one wins when the ball is in dispute
- high tackle count and effectiveness
- discipline (as well as flair)
- good decision making
- improving skills.

The score is not in my top 10. Although it will be interesting to see how we perform when in front and when being smashed, mentally.

Where did that become official?

When there was no one outside the 22 and in the forward group fit to play AFL

Spot on. And can only be seen at the ground.
Generally we have been playing ok, but skill errors kill us, especially with the game styles being played by ALL teams at the moment. We are no different. They reduce their skill errors and they will have killed Hawks.
They're 'cleaner' than us but not yet as clean as Hawks /Swans. They make up for it with intensity and speed. Have to match both this week to even be in the contest.
