Congrats Carlton's Jacob Weitering on being named the rd3 #NABRisingStar after his 26 possession / nine mark game against the GC Suns.

Good chance to win it, even as a defender.

I think Heeny will win it. I couldn't believe how mature he looked against us.

How do you solve a problem like Casboult?
Do we marry him off to a rich dude with many children or keep him in the convent?

walker is finished

Nope

The rumour mill said he was gone last year, and yet he still stands, and he still contributes. You're flat out wrong.

I was one who suggested he was gone last year, and still do, he was lame.
He has proven to me he continues to play lame.

He's lost his acceleration and is a downhill skier. Cooked

Murphy and Gibbs are the least likely senior mids in the competition to pull their team mates out of the abyss when needed. The antithesis of Hodge/Mitchell/ Lewis

Why can't we kick a ball 30-50 m without it entering protected airspace? Same with handballs.

Casboult is NO GOOD. Play him second ruck and follower. Drop Phillips and play Rowe at FF. White can take his spot in defence

Gut running non existent. They found space. We found them

Running patterns woeful...We kick to 2v1 in their favour, lose the ball and they kick to a 2v1 in their favour. F%%^ if I know where our sparee are...oh yeah, there are 3 of them chasing one bloke who always had the time to dish it off

We have to be the easiest side to tackle. We rarely survive a tackle without a turnover or a free kick against

Spot on re Gibbs and Murphy. I find them embarrassing tbh.

Ever played for a team with no forward targets? It's not inspiring....I thought we showed better running patters in NAB 1&3.

Good idea re Rowe forward and casboult 2 nd ruck...at least till Kreuzer finds some form

No it's not
He's not a consistent contested mark.
He misses more than he takes them
Play him as a follower where he can roam around the ground, go forward, press back etc

Name one forward in the league who takes more than 50% of contested marks. It's a bloody hard thing to do, the odds are stacked against anyone trying to take a mark, especially when 3 or more are involved in the contest.

Being in Sydney I see more of the Swans and Giants than any other non-navy team combined, and I would say Casboult comfortably holds his own against the likes of Tippett, Franklin and Lynch when it comes to the contested grab. Of course, he is miles behind in every other aspect of the game, but we're talking specifics here.

Joke that it took this long. Normally fall over themselves to nominate no.1 picks but alas, it's Carlton we are talking about. If the kid isn't winning the award so far - I'd like to know who is. His played 3 top notch games - 3!!! What a joke of an administration. I wouldn't be holding my breath at the end of the year.

I would think Tippett is the prototype for Casboult, has transformed himself into a mobile ruckman who genuinely troubles defenders when resting forward.

Or he always was, and we've been far too desperate for a big forward.

Look no doubt casboult can be a poor man's tippet ruck forward s he is a poor man's tippet forward
He has a problem he's a poor man's afl footballer!
Mentally he's extremely fragile

Horrible tank for the modern game and totally flawed kicking technique

The only place that would give him a ride is Carlton!

You would have said the same thing about Tippett at the start of last year; he couldn't ruck for shit.

What happened?

Jim tell us what else casboult offers other than the one big mark he may take every now and then? What value does he add?

He is probably our best centre bounce ruckman, and he is one of the best contested marks in the league. Booming kick when he actually connects and an excellent work rate for someone of his stature.

You keep looking at him as a forward, I've only ever seen him that way contingent on his goal kicking, which is currently way ward again. Without the focus on the pressure of a set shot, his field kicking has always been fine.

If we had a secondary ruckman of at least the quality of Hampson, I'd be looking at it differently, but we really don't. The drawbacks on all the other options aside from Kreuzer are shitful, and the game has changed. Casboult offers a skillset that works well in light of said change.

Again u are entitled to your opinion, but u seriously lost me when u said he has an excellent work rate.

Yes I do view him as as forward, because last time I looked that's where he has played. In fact 95% of his career that is where he has played and I see a player that is lazy, with low work rate, low fitness, can't kick, doesn't lead, doesn't pressure or chase, and is lost as to where he needs to be. Opposition teams exploit us cos of this. Did I add he doesn't kick goals.

As a ruckman, I see a player who doesn't have the fitness base or foot smarts to play the position.
