Agree Franc - saw Doggies yesterday at Etihad and this could be unfortunately a real smashing - their work out of clearances is excellent -are very fast - skilled and rebound off half back also very good - all the things we currently are not good at
Im going but quite frankly (no pun intended) anything less than about 80 point loss will be surprising

Nice of the AFL to give us an Etihad 'home' game against a team that plays there every week. Actually, our first five weeks are pretty harsh on a side that finished last to be honest. Two top four sides, another two finalists and two interstate trips.

We did the deal there. Melbourne home grounds these days are more about whether you can use your membership tickets and where you sit, rather than anything to do with the teams playing

Aware of that but it doesn't help our cause and probably extends the margin by four or five goals.

Really concerned this could destroy the teams morale, which has held up pretty well so far.

i think it broke in the GC game.

body language deteriorated as the game progressed ... it was really obvious at the ground. then watching Gibbs half time interview was telling. mids deflated there's no one up front to kick to, and the ball comes pinging back out at them faster then they can keep up with.

we're shot. we should start wearing the st kilda 80's woollen jerseys. even then that may be doing a major disservice to st kilda.

im feeling the same , this was not unexpected, but the realization watching it...

there is no way this board is gonna survive if this goes for the whole year..because the current 7 of 8 directors created this situation for the last 3-4 years...

I was concerned we'd lose this game by 12 goals, but now they've lost Bob Murphy I've cut it back to 9 goals.

Plowman is probably a week away from being fully fit, but bring him in anyway, drop Phillips, send Rowe forward and have Casboult take relief ruck duties. Load the forward line up with smalls/mids (Gibbs and Thomas especially) and give the guys winning the clearances a faint hope of a few goals being scored.

Pick any combination of involving 3-4 of Everitt, Jacksch, Rowe, Casboult, Curnow as the 'big' forward targets.

Yeah, lets throw one of our few prospects into a game unfit when we are likely to get poleaxed anyway.

Astute point.

Going forward (3-4 rounds from now), I'd like to see some changes happen. The current set up just does not work and I just want to see something different.

They've got Adcock, Collins and Wood in the mix to come into their defensive unit, so yup, it's probably not going to make much of a dent on paper, but his leadership is gold.

ANDREW HAMILTON’S FORECAST: The one impressive factor about the Blues is their pace. Not just with the ball, but also with their ability to shut down space which troubled the Suns early. One veteran Sun said after the game it was the fastest first half of footy he had ever played in.

I find that bit in yellow surprising. Also shows we couldn't maintain it.

I'm not sure which is funnier "One veteran Sun" - or the accusation that we are fast.

Not without a fit, well-managed 22 and a forward line that functions.

We'll need to tweak a few things to get that. I think we're highly competitive save for our decision making heading into the 50. We get gun shy, and it's more than just an avoidance of Levi.
