Ruckmen are a waste of space unless they can take marks around the ground.

Strained calf?
That would be just beef broth, then. No meat at all.

Bolton said on Wednesday he doesn't believe in pure tags. Someone might keep Ablett on a tight leash but he made it clear someone wouldn't have the sole task of tagging.

I like the side. We have a good mix of run and height.
Good to see Charlie again and expect to see an improved Kruezer!!
I think Curnow is a tagger and only a tagger, therefore his role is to go to Ablett. Anything else and his a liability - sorry Ed. You also need 1 tagger through the midfield.

Ablett will try to manipulate our zone a bit with his runs forward, but if we're holding up their supply through the middle of the ground then we'll have 7+ back in their 50 by the time he's making a run.

Trying to catch Ablett at his best can be like finding a needle in a haystack, 7 or 10, good luck!

I don't believe in tags either, until I come up against the greatest midfielder of this century. Then I believe in them, I just don't tell the media about it.

I agree. I like Whileys determination but he has to dispose of the ball quicker in traffic. He gets caught too often. Where Cripps has the awareness to get his hands free, Whiley is too slow to react.
I hope he can pick up the tempo because we need another extractor when Cripps is out of the centre. At the moment they seem to be nursing Murphy out on the wing and Gibbs isn't showing an ability to win enough first touch centre takeaways.

All is not lost though. I like the changes this week and I wouldn't take too much notice of last weeks result. The Swans are running a lot hotter than they're currently getting credit for.

Biggest problem with Whiley IMO, is the quality of his disposal. He has to get better skill wise. Happy to see him get his chance.

Don't count us out...but then I haven't seen the Suns play this year... Happy with the ins - gone with kids (who will hopefully be our future). Strong leadership and commitment to the gamelan may see an arm restle.

Well at least we'll have that thought if we lose

Not sure the Suns are as white hot as the Swans. We played a gun team in form last week, don't rule us out.

My thinking is similar.
I liked what I saw preseason and against the Tigers till we couldn't endure anymore.
In fact we did really well against the fittest team in the comp last week for half the game too.

If we can win in the midfield, and I think we can with Byrno in, releasing Docherty to play more midfield and supporting defensively...we can surprise.

I know its their home game and they are out to impress, and to show they have sorted their culture issues, but its 50-50 imo.
They are young and we have a fire in our belly.

Lets see....glass half full....

Carlton by 13 points.

Suns have been going well...better than us...but let's keep it in perspective they beat Essendon* at home and Freo who look worse than us so far.

I don't think we'll win, but we'll be in it a lot more than last week. Will once again just struggle to put periods we control into scoreboard impact.

If we beat Freo in Perth and the bombers I'll be jumping for joy.
