Buckley had an absolute shocker in Rnd1 jimmae. His best position is running off half back, but Tuohey, Docherty and Byrne have him covered in all aspects. He will have to reinvent himself as a small forward or he's going to find himself missing out.

and as a team, we're crying out for someone to make a forward pocket their own.

Gold Coast is purring nicely , abundantly skilled , great structure and game plan, so as with the Swans last week, let's not expect miracles just yet.
I'd like to see more of the new positive attitude and 100% commitment form whomever puts on the jumper on Saturday. I 'm guessing we'll get within 20 to 30 pts. There will be many honorable loses this year, but that's fine.
We're taking small steps it takes a heap of patience, Bolton will put us on the right path gradually obstacles will be removed.
We're coming from a very long way back with limited assests.

With the humidity i am expecting a bigger loss that 30pts. Our first win to come against the Bombers in May.

I thought our preseason focused on 'enduring'?

Three wins this year would be great. Five would be excellent.

This will be a de-stroyation of huge proportions. The difference in talent on the ground will be staggering.

GCST are top 6 this year and maybe higher and we are a bottom 2 lock. We desperately need quality mids to help Crippa. Our top 2 draft picks this year must be elite mids.

Tempted to play Weitering up fwd but he is the natural Jamo replacement so we should keep him down back.

Byrne and Buckley must come in for leg speed.

GCST by 80.

It's also his first year and he's played 2 games. Also to get even more technical they are two different defenders. Let's not put too much expectation on him yet and give him a run or two at the other end of the ground to see what he's got. Play him as an impact player for now not the one most important to the structural spine.

Yep. That's how bad we are placed at the minute. Our hope for a win lies in 18yos. Watched the highlights of Sunday again, and Weitering was sublime in many moments. He is the real package, and one on one even at 18 wins mist contests and delivers accurately.

Our only winnable games this year are Dons, Dees and Tiges on one of their days. The group needs a win to gain some confidence, and it'd probably help the coach too lol

Not convinced about Gold Coast and I don't expect their strengths to mirror the Swans.

But playing at home seems an advantage to much to overcome. Could conceivably win this but 5 goals down looks about the mark.

Looking forward to who we get a gander at this week. I think Byrne is a lock.

IMO if you drop Phillips you need to bring a Key Position forward in. If you're using Casboult as your second ruck you're essentially playing without a key forward during that time, because Kreuzer is simply a ruckman who rests forward, while none of Everitt, Walker or Curnow are true key position targets.

Dare i say it............... Jones??? (*Ducks Head*)

Hear me out though............ from all reports, he's last two practise matches for the Bullants have at least proven he can be a target up forward. If Levi can pinch hit in the ruck, at least we'll have somebody "Semi" capable of taking a grab in the F50 in Levi's absence.

Would prefer Cain Ackland

I think they will win by 45.

We should be able to match them more in the midfield but they will have too much firepower

So you don't think we are a chance against the Lions/saints

Thing is we don't know who will fall off the map, there is always someone. Could easily see Richmond bottom 6, Port could drop off too.

Freo will rally at some stage, remind me of St Kilda 2011

Team selection this year should be about the future. That doesn't mean playing all the kids at once if they are not ready. But it does mean that we might need to be patient with someone like Phillips.

He might not be setting the world on fire at the moment, but I think at this point of his career he's the type unlikely to improve playing in the VFL. Unless we're completely putting a line through him already, I say give him a bit more time. I would only drop him now if it's to give Gorringe a game. We need to give some of these guys in the 21-25 age bracket an extended run. It should be the case when Jaksch, Plowman & Sumner are ready to come in too.

My preference this week would be to drop someone like Everitt, Rowe or White instead. Rowe, probably, because we need more mobility (even though his form has been better than the other two over the past fortnight).

No Walker again, so....

In- Byrne
Out- Rowe

B: Tuohy Jamo White
HB: Simmo Weitering Docherty
C: Thomas Cripps E Curnow
HF: Graham Casboult Boekhorst
F: Wright C Curnow Kerridge

R: Kreuzer Gibbs Murphy

Inter: Byrne, Everitt, Lamb, Phillips

I'm with you on Phillips. And I reckon the MC are as well.

Im quite bullish about his future.

Just needs to run around a lot and may need a bit of time in the magoos after his initial taste.

like Jacobs (and unlike Hampson) I think one day it will just click.

With Walker confirmed as out for a few more weeks Curnow will get his chance to string some matches together.
In terms of predicting what the match committee will do, I don't think they'll wield the axe. I think Rowe might get a game as a matchup for Lynch, so I think White could be pushed out so they can give Byrne a run.
