Whilst his Sydney NAB game was well below par, his game v Hawthorn wasn't too shabby so the recent criticism seems a little overblown. Just hope he doesn't try extra hard on Sunday to the point where it actually makes him play poorly again...if that makes sense

Any thoughts on how we may improve on the Nab game (apart from we will try harder, which applies to the swans just as much)?

Wonder if no Korcheck in the VFL team is an indication that Phillips will be dropped?

That team sheet also seems to indicate that White will play vs. Sydney.

Murphy playing and Cripps playing a full game is a start.

OK - I'm not in the country at present and not really following it so was genuinely intrigued as to why a player like Thomas who epitomizes the mantra of a 'reset', where no one is a walk up start, was seen as a walk up start. He's obviously impressed Bolton. Fair enough.

Our team defence was a little 'immature' that game. We pressed forward hard that day, but Sydne y being a well drilled and smart team, they dropped players behind tne zone and put extras at the contest to get it over the back.....which yhey did, often enough to beat us.
We live and learn. Importantly, against the Tiges, same press, we kept one or two players aware to drop back on an opposition player, and we worked it much better. Didn't cost us the 5 easy goals that it cost against the Swans at the NAB (as well as making Buddy look brilliant against an out of position Rowe!).
Lets see...better midfield match up too...I think well be competitive again, just cant see us winning. Well make one or two mistakes, miss one or two goals. They won't. Theres your margin
My 2 cents anyway

Bill I reckon we still conceded 3 or 4 soft goals exactly the way you're describing.

He did enough in pre-season to guarantee himself a spot round 1, then got suspended. Makes sense to put him straight back in for round 2. Being a suspension it's not like a run in the 2s would be needed for his fitness.

Absolutely right Bill was at match was disappointed at how much space they had at the back of the press to run into easy goals and how easy it was for both their bigs and smalls to run into space -agree Jimmae at least 3 or 4 goals -said to relation Dardew at the time if we set up like that in round 2 against Swannies will be beaten by at least 10 goals -moreover that night buddy was only going half ratchet power so need

It actually doesn't sound so bad when you write it like that.

forgot about murph. that will help. In the tigers game toward the end of Q2 we started to tire and gaps opened up all over the place. Fortunately richmond were tired/not skilled and didn't exploit it. Don't think we will get that luxury with the swans.
I think we will have less cheap goals against over the back but suspect we may turn it over more - I thought we actually were ok in this regard (certainly better than last year) against the tigers - especially given the amount of quick hands trying to keep it alive.
I think we will lose it on the turnovers - we will have a few more and they will make us pay more for them.

Sydney is a much better side than Richmond. I fear we will get pumped.
