Oh and special mention to little Lamby. He was great I thought.

Not gutted but maybe that's just what being a Carlton supporter in recent times has become. Starting to accept 2 goal losses as OK

Tackling & pressure were good
Quick & skillful ball movement, was pleasantly surprised at times
Kerridge I'm not going to hang for two errors...the rest of his game was solid. He can play footy
Murphy terrific captain's game especially considering his lack of match preparation

Unfortunately in the last when we were down by 10 points with about 8 min to go, I just had no confidence that we'd win at all....very different to years gone by. But building that forward line over the next couple of seasons will make a mountain of difference.

I listened to SEN's commentary. Couple of things:

Levi Casboult lining up for a shot probably 2 min into the game...Cam Mooney "this kick could determine his entire season"

(actually I hope he's not right  )

Then later, Malthouse was singing Kerridge's praises for his game, mentioned he was surprised at the time Adelaide let a good player go. Kerridge once kicked five against North etc. 10 minutes later Kerridge makes a mistake & it's all about why clubs usually let players go for a reason & that reason is a lack of polish :banghead:

Anyway. Good season opener. Entertaining game of footy. Get Fev to the club to teach Casboult to kick & the cup's pretty much ours, I reckon.

Go Blues.

Bucks I think needs to play back, use that run. Maybe play Simmo higher. But if that's the cas is Byrne a better option goin fwd then both

Boeky's inside 50 kicking is probably the best in the team. He can really drill a ball, low and hard with little room for error but seems to be hitting them 90% of the time.

White is a battler but I think we need to drop him to make room for Thomas.

Kerridge reminded me a lot of Rhys Palmer last night unfortunately. A lot of the footy but kicks it blind repeatedly.

But we know Kerridge has polish, he's shown it so hoping today was just nerves

Also love if our kids had that extra burst in the initial 5-10m. Evident last night we have endurance miss rather than burst runners

We'll win some games this year. And I wasn't so sure of that pre game last night.

Weitering is just beautiful to watch. For a first year KPP to play like that in Round 1 in front of 75k people. Just think of what he'll become.

Cripps is the greatest player we've ever drafted. Wait until he's match fit. Could tell towards the end that he only played 1/2 a nab game.

Murph and Gibbs hopefully in for a good year.

Nice forward pressure - HS says we caused 37 turnovers in tigers defensive 50 - our most since 2002!!!
Our most marks inside 50 in 3 years too.

Dre kicked 2 goals but I'm still worried.

Levi's misses are just deflating. He kicks them in the warm up - just cracks when the crowd is watching.

Play with that intent all year and we're in for a good ride.

So many sprouts :)

The time when we can replace White and Rowe with Casey and Plow can't come soon enough. And Jamo needs a replacement ASAP.

Plenty of positives for me.

We have a great future under Hrrrreitering and Cripps. That Cripps shrug on Cotchin, then pass to someone was just awesome.

Wright played his role to perfection.

Our midfield is top notch, just need some more depth if injuries hit.

Our defensive pressure is great, team effort stands out, as does the structured approach to it.

Tackling is improving, Martina and Lloyd broke free a few times inside 50 that resulted in goals, pretty much the difference between win/loss.

On the negative side I wouldn't expect White and Buckley to be playing to much this year on exposed form this year. Both aren't adding much at present, and need to find form. I'd look at bringing KJ and Byrne in to replace this too next week.

Everitt showed his best and worst again.

Casboult did everything great except goal kicking. If you could bet on where the ball will end up from a set shot, I'd be retiring a happy man.

Oh and I'm trying to work out if Boekhurst is trying to mark in a contest or spoil and win it on the ground? He doesn't seem confident in marking contests at all.

Still very disappointed from last night
We were the better team by far unfortunately if it wasn’t for some silly decisions and of course our !@#$% goal kicking it would have been a different outcome

18 marks inside 50 the most for Carlton since round 12 2013.

McKay, Curnow and SOJ will all be very good players (at least... I think there might be some A-grade guns in there), and that's a forward line right there.

Don't forget KJ, Plowman and Byrne to come in for Rowe, Jamison and Simpson.

We already have 3/4 of a side that in the next few years will be playing finals. The kids need time to develop as individuals. The team needs more time to execute the game plan more consistently.

It's who we delist and bring in over the next two years that will determine whether we're top 4 or if we will be stuck in the second tier (like Richmond).

Casboults kicking last season was the best it's been. What ever Sav done last year, do that again. You could see with casboults first attempt the confidence wasn't there.

sav got the boot didn't he. (no pun intended – well, maybe a little).

bring sav back and pay him 15% of cas's wage.

Saw the big Sav in my favourite local Italian deli a few months ago, said reason he left was that Blues baulked at the money he wanted (cost cutting?) If they had their time over again, they may just have met his requirements given how far south Levi's kicking has gone.

Yep, Bucks wants to play back, a nice option to replace Simmo down the track.

Without having access to Champion Data or a similar outlet, I'm guessing we won every stat category except these:

- Marks inside 50 conversion rate
- inside 50s per score
- ground ball gets per score

Effective Inside 50's (shots per inside 50) Richmond went at 59%, Carlton at 44%

That's a very, very encouraging stat. Speaks highly of our midfield dominance and ball movement. Just imagine if we had someone else who could take a mark down there besides Casboult.

We need to buy the cheer squad a heap of new gear and give free tickets to those who'll come in navy blue to fill the area behind them. That checkered flag is an embarrassment

Can't see how Tuohy is on that bad list. He was one of the best from where I was watching.

Everitt, Casboult and Buckley should be worried about selection next week but I don't think we have any other options that can replace Casboult.

Expect Thomas and Bryne for Everitt and Buckley

The only issue I have with Tuohy is what appears to be a lack of awareness or trying to do too much, he gets caught with the ball far too often, I think he got caught twice last night and they were situations where he could have got rid of the ball to a teammate, not sure what's going on there
