You seem like a pretty switched on dude.

Is this prediction with your heart of your head?

Yep

I almost feel sorry for the Tiges. Just signed Hardwick and we will put the first nail in his coffin.

Bit of both.

We've got the midfield depth and fitness to run over the top of them, I just hope that we trust in that at the selection table instead of seeking structural selections (outside of defence).

I'm hoping that Armfield comes up so we don't have to roll the dice with Lamb's form. We'd also have enough run to carry Phillips if we really think he can make an impact; I don't see it myself.

Any team using White in defence or midfield while Rowe is in the side (as he probably should be given Maric, Hampson, Griffiths and Vickery will be in the selection frame for Richmond) is another no-no.

We have the midfield under control, they have an advantage in terms of the ruck, but aside from Riewoldt and Rance, everything else is somewhat even. A good team defence will blanket Jack because he's not athletically blessed and we have a couple of good direct match ups for him in Weitering and Jamison.

Negating Rance comes down to how we utilise our talls in our entries (i.e. less pack situations, more switches) and forward pressure if they take possession at ground level.

Richmond are excellent at their spread and have some good tall talent, particularly in defence, but they really do lack a killer blow beyond Jack and Cotchin.

I take it back ABNS, Rexy's forward line is the stuff of nightmares. :P

It will be interesting to see how the selections pan out and how much emphasis they put on winning games now versus development for the future.

Can we just not let Vickery kick his usual four goals?

Anyone know where to watch the game in Los Angeles?!

Give the Cock 'N Bull Pub in Santa Monica a call (310-399-9696). I think it's owned by Aussies...or Poms...or Americans who like Aussies and Poms...yeah - that's it! Have been known to televise the footy.

Worst case scenario, you can buy a pass to watch it online, just make sure you've got 5 GB of data to burn though (just to be on the safe side).

ESPN used to online coverage of all the games as well, not sure what happened to that, and the AFL website is very hazy on US coverage.

EDIT: Here we go, the game will be live on Fox Soccer Plus, in HD, at 1 AM

Excellent, thank you both! Want to avoid buying a pass if possible.

Given that with a full list available that we'd only use 11 or 12 players aged 24 or over, not sure how we're really emphasising old heads at the expense of growth.

I'm sure the team will be picked on form and ability.

Fair enough...but...

Backline with White at CHB is a bit of a stretch. He's too small for CHB.
He's probably nearly as clumsy as Rowe but Rowe hoffers a few cms and a bit more strength to the KP post.
Someone will have to man up a resting ruckman and it aint White.

I'd love to see Byrne in the team, hopeful he releases Simpson or Docherty in midfield rotations.
Good to see Buckley as a wingman.

I think Whiley is the hard nut who should take on Martin in the square when giving Cripps a break from the contested midfield role.

Silvagni is what dreams are made of. Can't see that happening. Can you?

Wright has been OK but he's one of the fringe players I have picked to make upm the bench. I guess its between Lamb and Wright till Armfield is back up and running.

Ive got a good feeling about this game. The game polan will be worlds better than the prehistoric one Malthouse had us play in the opening round with his "monster" playing full forward kicking the forst goal then falling away like an autumn leaf.

New game plan. New era.

CRIPPS...WEITERING to get us over the line.

White is a trier but we need to move past triers.

You have more confidence in Whiley than I do. I hope I'm wrong, but I see him as no more than a trier too.

Geez Rex. That is almost the identical team I picked! With one exception. I had Charlie Curnow in and not Silvagni. Why do you have Silvagni ahead of Charlie (and yes I've read Schache in your teams before so I don't know if you're being serious or not). :sly:

I don't have either Lamb or Armfield in and for the latter, certainly not best 22 (and yes I know he's not available for Round 1).

He's fit, and you're not going to play him in the VFL. He's far too good for that, and even if he only contributes 85 minutes of footy, that's now acceptable given the 4-man interchange.

As it is, he'll probably play half his game up forward, so he's a good chance to play more than that.
