Get Rowe on the bench and let weiters play

Giving the lad some rest?

There's rest and there's spending half a quarter on the bench. if he needs that much rest he shouldn't be playing

Didn't see it but I thought he must have had some time on the bench because there were some long stretches where he didn't add to his possession tally. He still managed the 15 touches, though.

Still no definable forward structure

I liked the general effort and attitude but we'll struggle post a competitive score most weeks until we find a better system going forward.

Have you always been this stupid or have you suffered a head injury?

He has had good days ???

Yes, quite a few good days, hence he attracted interest.

What's happened to Jaksch. Obviously been injured or sick as he hasn't played.

Yep that's right we were offered all these first and second round picks for him

Pros:

Boeky - Best game I've seen him play
Graham - Just keeps on keeping on another consistent performance
Cripps - Limited gametime but X Factor
Kerridge, Curnow
Weitering - OK some nice things, looks composed for a kid!
Kreuz - Early days he was killing it in the ruck, lovely tap down to Kerridge for a goal in the 2nd qtr
Lamb - Looked like he was busting a lung out there doing all he could do. Not an impact on the scoreboard but cant fault his effort. There was an episode in the 2nd qtr where he was 1 on about 3 of them crawling around fighting. In seasons goneby the bloke in Navy Blue would have put in a token effort, slapped an opponents jersey with a loose hand and watched the other team run the ball out uncontested. Lamb kept fighting against 3 and eventually saw the ball go out for a throw from pressure. Probably meaningless passage of play in the big scheme but I thought it was inspiring and if I was a coach would have been giving him top marks for that.
Gameplan looks better and more intensity around the contest.

Cons:

Everitt, might need a set of Hammer's old contact lenses, all over the place tonight, jumped for one mark uncontested and didn't even touch the ball.
Daisy, horror game
Gibbo not far behind
No Murph
Skill errors costing us cheap goals. We run off our men to create options then somebody turns the ball over cheaply and Sydney get an easy one out the back, happened all day.
Levi's kicking. My son has learned Japanese at school in less time than this bloke has learned to kick a footy! Still dropping the ball from the top of his routine, doesnt guide the ball down to his foot, surely somebody has told him this and given him drills to work on, how hard can it be. Zach Touhy came from Ireland and he is one of the best kicks in the team!! Loved how he ran and contested and threw his size around but he would go from zero to hero if he could kick!

Just watched the 3rd quarter. Thomas tried hard but minimal impact. Several good tackles but does not hurt the opposition. The big Kruez needs to grab those marks up front. Looked all at sea. We really are going to struggle to kick a decent score if what we have seen so far is any indication.

Pros:

Really enjoyed the competitiveness and effort. Thought we actually outplayed the opposition for much of the game.
Nice to see a game played in our forward line for a change.
Good to see us using a goalkeeper at stoppages in our defence.
Breakout game from Boekhorst.
Cripps is already in the top 10 midfielders in the competition. Monstered the Swans midfield on the inside. Already a better player than Kennedy.
Weitering. Simply brilliant. Already looks like the 3rd best player on our list.
SOS certainly got it right with Kerridge. Already our 3rd best midfielder after Cripps and Murphy. He's going to be a huge help to Cripps. Could well end up being our leading goalkicker as well.
I could fall in love with Kreuzer again, if he's going to play like that regularly. Brilliant in the contests. Still like to see him take more marks. But he's a brilliant clearance player. Was good in the actual ruckwork as well.
Really admire Curnow and the leadership he provides. When tagging, can be relied upon to shut out a good player. 2nd week in a row he's been able to kick a goal, when others have struggled to do so.
Very happy with Graham's game. Almost a breakout game for him as well.
Encouraging performances from Lamb and Phillips and Whiley. Particularly encouraged by Whiley as I'd started to lose faith that he could make it.
Wright looks like he'll be a solid contributor.
Good to see Walker back in the team.

Cons:

Got absolutely slaughtered on the turnover.
Inability to get any goals from our forward line.
Didn't think the goalkicking was too bad tonight. But it'd be nice to actually score more goals than behinds, once in a while.
Thomas and Gibbs. Thomas was better than Gibbs. But probably both in the top 3 in our salary cap. Just don't do enough. I was a big supporter of Gibbs being moved to midfield. And given our list, he's going to play there a lot this year. I don't know if it's a problem with his engine. But he just doesn't have enough impact for a player for his elite ability. He's being outperformed in midfield by Cripps, Murphy, Kerridge, Curnow. And he's in danger of being overtaken by Graham as well.
Rowe and White were fairly awful early in the game. Although both improved as the game went on.
It looks like Gorringe is going to get a decent go. And with his talent and athleticism it's probably the right choice. Just wish he'd actually make a contest more often.
Everitt's been a good pick up. But he's had a pretty disappointing pre-season.
Disappointed that Byrne didn't get a game. I think he's the future.

Walker was keeping two Sydney players occupied on the fence while Curnow kicked his goal.

I get what people are saying about Daisy but credit where its due, his skills stank up the place but never went into hiding - kept giving 100%

Jamison looked like he was scared of Franklin it having both he and Rowe down back at the same time is scary. Maybe Bolts should send Rowe up front for a bit.

Overall I thought the positives far outweighed the negatives in this game. Plenty of wrinkles to iron out, but I reckon there is a team in there somewhere.

Agreed.

That's $700k that we can use on somebody decent.

To think we could have kept Eddie instead.....

Don't remind me. :banghead:

The Adelaide Crows are a client of mine and even they cannot believe we let him go...........

However, i am feeling a little bit better after seeing Kerridge. Looks the goods he does.

True Ponk .... we can give him that but the problem is our inspired board ratified a deal to give this bloke $700K to run around the park gritting his teeth.

Will have to go down in history of AFL/VFL recruiting right up there with the John Pitura deal.

I'm sure our club can round out the top five.

Still harbour good faith but hoping the KJ deal doesn't give it a nudge.

Dalesies skills were no good at collingwood. Shocking kick for goal. Missed targets. Fluked the odd torp and speccy.
He was good the years the pies were good because he fitted his defensive role well. Always in the face of opponents applying defensive pressure.Always running hard to get defensive side when the opposition had the ball. Great second and third efforts.
But that was back when the forward press caught the rest of the league out.

These days he will be lucky to get a game at the club that finished last.
