I thought he did his job as a target and bringing the ball to ground when double teamed. Didn't get any easy ball, but that's where someone like Walker/Curnow could benefit.

Agree with you TNO.

Casboult needs to take a few more marks, but overall I thought he competed well and drew opposition numbers. It's going to be a long season for him if he is the only big target and has 2 or 3 opponents nearly every time we kick it to him.

I counted at least 6 relatively easy dropped marks in the back half of which a couple cost goals and our forwards couldn't catch a cold.

Boekhurst was very good, may end up being an inspired choice.

And I'm calling it now em20, we have raped Adelaide in that trade

He has had good days ???

Yes, quite a few good days, hence he attracted interest.

What's happened to Jaksch. Obviously been injured or sick as he hasn't played.

That shot for goal at 3/4 time was embarrassing.

Everitt is embarrassing too.

We need to get Jaksch in and playing forward. At least he is a natural forward.
I also thought Gorridge got better as the game went on, so that is a positive.
Casboult had a game to forget but some of the delivery to him in particular was terrible. He did however compete and create opportunities. We need the r sting ruckman to take a grab or 2 as well. Plenty to work on!
I agree with many, Rowe was disappointing tonight and hopefully Plowman is ready shortly.
I think I'll stay out of the Everitt talk ...........

Plenty of positives though, especially through the midfield. Boaky's best game so far! Now we just need to stop turning the ball over or at the very least limit the clangers ..... It's killing us. Graham you little beauty as we'll ....

Thomas showed he is a massive bust by us. I can't see how his kicking will
somehow get better, wasn't he over that 18 months ago supposedly?

Agreed.

That's $700k that we can use on somebody decent.

Came home from Etihad after watching live:

There were 2 Carltons playing tonight- (1) the past and (2) the future

highlights and lowlights

delist/trade as fast as possible:

Jamison - he will wrecked by round 3 if not now
Kruezer - cannot read the ball for a mark - always too under- too robotic- failed a medical at pies and footscray
Gibbs - soft outside - looked up before looking for the ball - thinks about himself and not an unconditional player
Simpson - good servant
Rowe - cant read play- too slow
Everett - meh
casboult - cant kick -cant position
daisy thomas is an absolute disgrace- the board should be sacked as a whole for approving that deal
liam jones -didnt play

some of the above made clangers which resulted in goals - they are not good examples for our new recruits...

the future:

cripps
weitering
graham- got hit in head and got up ...
boekhurst- we paid too high price though - not a first round pick
philips-
lamb - must be played forward not on the wing/midfield
buckley wont make it imo - unless he gets some tricks quickly - make him a defensive forward
kerriage ..hard and keeps his feet

we desperately need a 25 year old key defender next year to support weitering who will be wrecked like kruezer is now -if carries too much of the defensive load

The Malthouse era, in much less time, will prove to be significantly more detrimental than the Pagan era was. Has set us back a decade.

Yes let's. It was a good game.

The most significant piece of play was when Rampe kicked the ball out on the full in the second quarter.

For a while we had the only player who rhymed with 'orange', and now we have one that rhymes with 'porridge'. Good stuff!

The good thing about tonight's performance was it was the kids/ newbies in Graham, Cripps, Kerridge and Boekhorst who were our better players.
In the past, its been all about Judd, Murphy and Gibbs having to do well to jeep us in the contest.
Kruez looks like he's picked up where he left off at the end of last year.
Weitering looks like a gem of a #1 Pick
I think Levi will never be anything more than an average trier. Now into his 7th season on our list, and still has issues with his kicking.
Rowe and Everitt wont be around by 2018.

Walker and Gibbs used the game for what it was, a preseason hit out.

Walker was unscathed ... Tick
Gibbs had a run around as a peripheral figure unscathed .... Tick
