Lots to like tonight, but Everitt has been genuinely poor. On form shouldn't play against Richmond. Well down on either confidence, interest or both.

Shouldn't play and probably won't.

Boeky was excellent

Absolutely. If he continues his current trajectory, he is set to become a difference maker

Whiley had a good half too. I think he will be a starter in round 1, ahead of Everitt anyway.

If I have learned anything tonight it's that I thought Jason Dunstall couldn't get any larger in the off-season, but I have been mistaken.

Agree, the guy looks shot, that missed mark was a killer at that stage.

Concerned about Casboult. Back to his poor days. Maybe get Sav back to tutor him. Without forwards we can't kick winning score. Game plan looks good. Will need time and some more incoming talent.

I thought he did his job as a target and bringing the ball to ground when double teamed. Didn't get any easy ball, but that's where someone like Walker/Curnow could benefit.

Good game tonight from a hungry but forward-less blues. Kerridge (bog), cripps, boekhurst very good. Had chances to win the game but not enough firepower up forward, swans touch more class. 6-8 wins maybe possible but finally have some good kids coming through! Glass half full....

Managed to watch the game today (6:50am start over here in the UK).

Loved what i saw in the 3rd quarter. At one point, we had ALL of our players in our attacking F50. I nearly cried tears of bliss after seeing the opposite for almost 3 years under Malthouse.

The good.
- Cripps will be an A-list elite star. Amazing that he's only in his 3rd year, pretty much 2nd year actually.
- #23. Wow. I wasn't sure what type of player he was as didn't get too see much U18's last year. Looks incredible.
- Graham. Bloody hell,...... how was his place on the list at risk......?? Madness.
- Kerridge..... starting to feel a little bit less pissed about the Crows having Eddie. This guy looks the goods.
- Boekhurt. Easilly his best game in Navy Blue (pitty its only pre-season)

The not so good
- Everitt. Just no good at all....... in danger of not starting round 1. And he was our leading goal kicker last year - how scary is that?
- Daisy. Just no confidence and IMHO nowhere near our best 22.
- Casboult. Needs to do more - a LOT more!

Still - it's another pre-season game and there was only 89 interchanges so Bolton is still going for endurance which i kinda like and at least we gave effort.
You can make excuses for not winning be it age or in-experience but you can always show some effort and i feel we did that.

Bring on roudn 1.

Cripps, Kerridge, Graham & Boekhorst were all very good. We'll need that output throughout the year and we'll need to keep adding depth to that group through the next couple of drafts.
Kreuzer was very good and Phillips bounced back and showed some good signs tonight after a poor outing the game before.
Whiley was good when he came on and could've forced his way into the round 1 team. Wright has probably cemented a spot too.
I wanted Lamb to get more of the footy. He finished with 7 disposals. I liked his pressure, but I'm not sure that'll be enough to get him a spot at this stage.
I liked Tuohy and Weitering down back. I hope Jaksch finds some touch and is knocking on the door of senior selection early in the year.
Buckley adds some zip around the ground, but I'm not exactly sure what role he's going to play this year.
White and Rowe are too slow in their decision making.
I'd like to see a little more polish from Docherty and Simpson down back.

Cripps 24 possessions and the most contested possessions and clearances on the ground in only 53% game time.

I reserve the right to change my mind after I watch the replay, but my initial thoughts after watching at the ground-
* it hasn't been tested in the white hot climate of a proper AFL game yet, but our game style looks better. Good team pressure for most of the night.
* we desperately need one of our big blokes to start clunking a few. I'd be surprised if Casboult, Kreuzer, Gorringe & Phillips had half a dozen marks between them tonight.
* Kerridge looks like a very handy pick up.
* Wright showed some promising signs.
* Weitering.... :cool:
* Cripps.... :cool:
* Boekhorst & Graham are growing before our eyes.
* Docherty is reminding me of a mini Peter Dean.
* we'll know we are improving when Rowe can't get a game. I admire him in a lot of ways, but I'm hoping Jaksch has a big month in the VFL and owns CHB by round 10. Rowe might be a stop gap as forward/2nd ruck later in the season if none of our other big men step up.
* a bit better from Whiley. He wouldn't be in my round 1 team, but I thought he was OK when he came on in the 2nd half.
* I've been saying it for awhile (and been shot down for it) but Everitt is a worry. He may be 2016's Hendo. I was pleased they played him further up the ground tonight.

Anyway, a 3-4 goal loss & no injuries & a few 'green shoots'. I'm content. We know it's going to be a long season.

No sprouts in C. Curnow; SOJ: and McKay tonight. Lots yet to look forward to in the forward line. It may not happen overnight but it will.

Casboult never does well when he's a forward alone. Much better when he's forward/2nd ruck. A run in the ruck where he can run around clunking marks really helps his confidence, which shows when he's back forward. Be even harder now given he'll now get the no.1 defender, even more reason to run him in the ruck. Not a star up nor in the ruck alone but as combined roles he's is very valuable.

At worst, play him at CHF where he can run around alot more and clunk marks. At his best when he can move. Stuck in the goal square all game won't help him and he'll do no good.
