It's 'reset' mode all over the club! They'll 'reset' your years of membership! You've been warned!

I really don't understand what you're upset about?

Just for 'fun', write a letter as though you were a debtor/creditor collecting a debt.

Then change mention of your name to 'Carlton Football Club', the indebted to 'member' and 'debt' to 'consecutive years of membership'. Notice much of a difference?

It's dumb and it's going to piss off people who were on the fence.

Perhaps offensive too strong a statement - but agree with Jim...it's dumb.

(Although I did get a laugh at the 'we are offering you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' part...but if you don't take us up on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - you are dead to us...we mean it this time...seriously...do you really want your 2017 scarf to say 1 year member? Well do you?)

(What if you need a favor from Ferris Bueller someday? THEN where will you be?!....you... you.. heartless wench!)

Whilst the means in which they have gone about it has the potential to rub some feathers, at least they are making contact with lapsed members - given they haven't been doing that in recent years IIRC

FWIW, I got a similar letter from them a few years back. Bought a membership at that time to keep the streak going. I'm guessing it was around 2005-6.

Plus six today. Re-joined family after four years of lost hope.

Good point. Shows they're at least trying. Using Bolton and it being a real letter rather than an email also worth points (as emails from the club don't go to my inbox). And while for me not being a member is no longer a protest vote - I guess it's still worth being sent a letter in the chance they turn fans into financial fans.

Not for me - but admirable nonetheless.

As HTP said, I'm not sure this letter is a new initiative, so it seems kind of pointless to give them any credit for trying.

I hadn't received a 'letter' from the club for some time Jim. I think they came across the Rolodex.

You're right. The Club is changing - albeit slowly, but there is positive change. CEO and Coach are the face of the club and are doing some pretty good work. I, among others, would be an absolute hypocrite if after all this change I've been screaming for still got on my high horse and had a cry that not enough change was happening. It's a slow road.

They're trying - and they're trying in the right areas. It doesn't matter who does it - as long as it's being done. That's enough for me to get a 2016 membership.

Out of interest, what's changed since this post, Doc? Just a change of heart, or something specific the club has done wrong?

I'm content with what the club is doing. I did purchase a membership - but not for me. Kind of a pay it forward thing. I'd go into detail but I'd be accused of having a giant ego and that's not the case - I just thought I'd give someone a break. I don't have much desire to attend games of football.

Ah, that was you on the Facebook page reaching out to a woman who said she couldn't afford it because of sickness? If so, well done

Not me Tom (don't venture onto the CFC Facebook page) - but similar scenario.

That's fair enough. Club membership and game attendance isn't the only measure of a fan. Glad you are content with how the club is operating. It's nice to feel as though the club is trending in the right direction again.

Yep. Definitely got a bit of the Renée Geyer's about it.
