Mckay should play ahead of Jones.

Can we please just give up on trying Jones.

Thats enough now.

I don't want to see Tutt, Jones and Dick play much senior football this year.m

Our backline is solid - Jamo, White, Rowe, JW, Docherty, 2E, Simmo
Our mids are solid - Kerridge, Cripps, Murph, Gibbs, Graham, Thomas (Krueze to Ruck)

Our Forward line is a massive concern.

Levi is a main target, Everett should play third tall but we desperately need goal kickers hopefully two or three of Lamb, Sumner, Buckley, Smith, Galluci can stand up as a small forward. Maybe we have to try KJ and a key position forward because Jones isnt good enough, Gorringe isnt competitive enough. Phillips could be another option if he clunks them he is tall and leaps well at the footy.

We will smash Essendon* in the season proper if we are injury free.

Cripps makes us 25 percent better on his own make no mistake about that.

Didn't see Dick out there today - perhaps he wasn't exposed?

Tutt powered away with those HEaver like legs and dropped the ball endlessly.

Jones is just not VFL quality.

Had a great lunch with cousins I haven't seen much in the past decade. We lose another 4pts? :-)

I see what Bolton is doing and couldn't give a stuff about results in the preseason.

Essendon* had a stronger side on paper and had to show a more committed attitude to winning than we do at this point.

The Blues made certain of the result with their selection and in-game rotations, leaving their first choice midfield out and pitting 21 players against 26 in the first half.

Dont quite understand this

This is a 5 year journey to become a top 8 side. Dont drop your heads after 2 practice matches and suck up the losses over the next 2 years

Listened to second half on radio. Could hear Carlton supporters in background absolutely giving it to Gorringe.
Thought it was pretty harsh so early or was he that disappointing???
Really need some of these trades to pay dividends from the expansion clubs.
Whiley I doubt will ever be more than a fringe
Jaksch hasn't met expectations either.
Plowman and sumner come over injured.
Gorringe didn't impress me last week and seems may have been worse today.

As an aside, how's our GWS recycling factory going?

If it was a business, we'd be calling in the liquidators !!!!

Gee whizz Sam Rowe has trouble breaking tackles from people smaller than him.

Just heard that in the press conference, and it's incorrect; we had 22 players feature in the first half:

FB: Weitering Jamison Byrne
HB: Simpson Rowe Tuohy
C: Boekhorst Graham Cuningham
HF: Lamb Everitt C.Curnow
FF: Smith Casboult Jones

RR: Phillips Whiley E.Curnow

Int: Gorringe Gallucci Tutt Buckley

Additionally, did I just hear Emily Angwin - our media presenter - ask a question at the press conference? If true, that's incredibly insular of our media team that they feel they need to insert a propaganda question or two into our pressers...

Maybe, but in my mind, Emily can do anything she likes.

Pretty obvious that this game was about trying out a few players. Our midfield should be a lot more potent in Round 1. The forward line we will go with is a obviously a work in progress.

Positives include:
Weitering - Yes he is going to be very good.
Byrne - Showed some good signs after an interrupted pre-season.
Gallucci - Mongrel and footy smarts. Liked his effort and pace.
Charlie Curnow - Got into the game a little more this week.
McKay - Nice kick for goal when he got his chance. Looked ok early days.
SOJ - Looks to be a bit young for this yet but obvious talent.
Graham - I think he is best 22 now. Seems to be slowly but steadily improving.

Negatives:
Relatively poor games from Everitt, Buckley and Boekhorst.
Phillips and Lamb were ineffective.
Whiley struggled.
Rowe plugging a hole in the back-line because we have no one better.

I am intrigued as to whether BB will experiment again for the match against the Swans or whether he'll go more for the likely Round 1 side. My guess the latter supplemented by a few of the peripheral lads who haven't had a go so far.

It's the curse of his true genius, as he attempts to calculate the required force and angle for them to successfully tackle him, by which time the ball is back at the centre after he's conceded a goal.

The latter two were much better in the second half, both sparking the midfield.

BB stated in the press conference that it will be a much more senior line up in the Swans game as they prep for round 1. Amazingly he seems to have his eye on winning matches this year.

Shut it all down if we're on a 5-year plan to make finals. The game will be reinvented by then.

It goes without saying that we'll be a better side with Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Thomas, Cripps, Kerridge, Walker & Armfield. Probably Plowman, Jaksch & Wood too.

Having said that, I would have liked to have seen indicators of a more sound team plan and cohesive style. We have a number of guys new to playing with each other - and it really showed. Rome wasn't built in a day, but I would be surprised if BB wasn't at least mildly disappointed. I know I was.

Positives-
* the club marketed/promoted the day well and got an excellent turnout.
* the post game function for members was a good initiative and provided members with access to current and former players.
* no injuries of note.
* Weitering did well in the circumstances.
* SOJ & McKay got their hands on the pill a few times in the 2nd half.

Other observations/comments-
* Phillips is 4th in line for a ruck spot, IMO. I would have Kreuzer, Wood & Gorringe ahead of him at this stage.
* Cunningham & C Curnow look further off it than I hoped.
* the 'class of 2014' is looking like a stinker. I still have some hope for Boekhorst - but Smith, Jones, Tutt & Whiley look unlikely and where is DVR, Foster & Gowers?
* is Everitt's heart in it?
