Dons will have Brown, Hartley and Gwilt as their key defenders, with Goddard giving an additional chop-out. Disapointing that Francis didn't get named, but I suppose they have forwards and backs that they need to trial right now.

Like us, the back line is fairly settled, and the forward half has some obvious KF choices, but their medium and small forwards are very much up in the air. We should dominate the ruck even with Korcheck's inexperience.

Solid midfield battle, on paper.

You believe Korchek will be played?
I think BB wants to see more of Gorringe and Phillips and expect Jaksch next game, along with Walker and Murphy.

Yes Gibbs has been named. I was reading another post which said he was absent. Just to clear things up.

And has been named instead of Simpson on the AFL site:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-02-25/n ... the-squads

Quote:
Carlton v Essendon*, Sunday, February 28, 2.05pm AEDT at Ikon Park
CARLTON
2. Jack Silvagni, 4. Bryce Gibbs, 7. Dylan Buckley, 10. Harry McKay, 12. Blaine Boekhorst, 13. Jed Lamb, 14. Liam Jones, 15. Sam Docherty, 17. Sam Rowe, 22. Jason Tutt, 23. Jacob Weitering, 24. Mark Whiley, 25. Clem Smith, 28. David Cuningham, 30. Charlie Curnow, 31. Matthew Dick, 32. Nick Graham, 33. Andrejs Everitt, 34. Andrew Phillips, 35. Ed Curnow, 37. Daniel Gorringe, 38. Ciaran Byrne, 40. Michael Jamison, 41. Levi Casboult, 42. Zach Tuohy, 45. Andrew Gallucci, 46. Matthew Wright, 47. Jesse Glass-McCasker, 48. Matt Korcheck

Hence why I asked which was right earlier, and had Gibbs/Simpson on my team sheet.

Patrick Keane vs. Carlton Media; who will win this battle of wits?

Is Jaksch traveling that badly he can't even get a game in practice match against the depleted drug cheats?... Had high hopes for him last year... What about Rainbow, anyone know how he's travelling, it's looking like the 2014 draft/ trade will be another bust...

I'd say both have some fitness/strength goals and are going to be eased into the year via the VFL.

We fired our fitness guy and have had a massively increased focus on anaerobic fitness this pre-season, maybe give the U22 players a little time to adapt?

I know it's only a scratch match, but I hope the new guys have all been clearly advised of what is expected from them when playing the drug cheats...

Shame Kelly and Stokes are not playing. I was looking forward to enquiring about their work with Thompson, Weap and Dank. Whether we should all take the 2007,2009,2011 with a grain of salt?

Would have been nice to keep the ball rolling.

Nevermind..........back to the workshop.

Serious question, does anyone think there may actually be a biggish crowd? Will casual entry be ok?

No. You should wear a lounge suit.

Since we a re playing a less experienced side than they are, chances are we will lose. Not going to be fun in the media if that happens.
