With so many new faces, the club should be open to build a leadership group from anybody who shows the right stuff.

Sometimes the answer to these questions are under your nose.

The playing group should be told all positions are up for grabs and we are not holding onto the past.

Blue skies ahead...

Bolton, meanwhile, said Marc Murphy was no certainty to lead the Blues in 2016.

“I’m really open-minded at this stage,” Bolton said.

“It’s a real reset. I want to be able to feel the leadership, look at it, celebrate it and analyse it. I’m really open-minded.”

That is a massive statement by Bolts.

I just assumed Murf was going to be skipper.

That is exactly what Brendan Bolton has done in deeds and words.

Id be surprised if Murphy wasnt reappointed.

Not sure there is another standout yet.

Docherty has leadership group written all over him.

This is great news!! Softening us up in December to make the decision in January. I hope Simmo gets it for a year or two followed by the future captain of the century - you know who I'm talkin' 'bout.

Wrong time of his career for Simmo to be captain.

He'll need to put everything into getting his body over the line week to week.

It's all set up pretty well for Murph to give up the captaincy in a couple of seasons at most, but now is too soon to appoint someone like Docherty or Cripps.

Maybe he could play the Vanderberg role for a couple of years?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if appointed Simmo would be no older than Bob Murphy was when he was appointed, maybe even younger. And look what it dod for Bob.

Maybe they are dead set against trading the captain. Everyone was wondering where the next first round pick might come from

Either that or he feels Murph will play better footy without the captaincy.
Who knows what discussions have been had behind closed (early) doors.

I wasn't referring to age. I could be wrong, but Simmo has struggled with his body more in the last 2 years and players generally find it easier at the end of their career to not have to carry the captaincy burden as well.

Scrap the leadership group entirely. Its a joke. We finished last, on the bottom, the worst in the compition, wooden spoon.

Leadership? What leadership, really?

Henderson showed the kind of leadership we've become acustomed too. Absolutely pathetic.

If I had any say I'd scrape this farce until REAL leaders, based on actual leasership stand up throughout 2016 - regardless of age or positioning.

No more of this favorite boys club garbage that produces SAFE UNTOUCHABLE LAZY examples.

Blank slate for 2016 and given to proven leadership qualities EARNED and awarded in 2017 onwards.

Bryce Gibbs a leader of men? Give me a fkn break.

Bob Murphy was made captain because their previous captain, Griffen, was traded. Admittedly Bob is a much better captain. We still have our Murph. I think he deserves the right to continue on. Simmo is near the end of his football career. Most of the others are near the start. You need some stability.

I dont see that ge has the right more than any other player.
A change would be a good thing.
shoulda been Carrots back then ..or Simmo..
Baf choice in the 1st place.
He's had a good run at it..
Lets face it..hasnt been able to truly inspire the group. I agree it might even be good for his game without the pressure. He always presents as so stressed having to speak publicly.
