Home ground deal, controlled by the AFL and 'Carlton Mike' has killed this club. You cannot make money by having to 'pay to play' for half your home games!! Your always going to be fighting with 1 hand behind your back. Give us our heritage and allow us to build like Geelong has and this club will turn around again. Anything other than that and yes we are dead as the club we once knew.

The AFL, at least for the time being, has 18 licences and that's unlikely to change anytime soon. While they aren't an endless supply of cash - they will keep a club on life-support. My hope is that the AFL take control because that's the only way to float this sinking ship.

2. We simply "wait our turn" until the AFL deems its time for Carlton to win a flag, isn't that how the competition is set up now?

No. That's not how it works, although I suspect you already know this!

3. The big maybe - We slowly build over the next few years. We get a bit of luck on the injury front, a bit of luck recruiting, and a bit of luck that the current people we have are the right people.

The footy department can only function well if the Board functions well. And the board doesn't function well! You must realise that just because these people are successful in their chosen careers - it doesn't translate to the successful running of a football club.

I actually really like the city - but because it takes 23 hrs to get there, I would suggest this unlikely.

Recovery session in Port Phillip Bay or recovery session in the River Tay.

I think we will limp along indefinitely.
We will make the finals again in the game of snakes and ladders.. But we will never win the flag or be a serious football club to be taken with great notice in our lifetime.
Our flags will be making finals or beating some club in the elimination finals.
If we ever make a preliminary it will be viewed as a major triumph.

This is our lot!
If you don't get it yet, you'll never get it!

Yup, we will never innovate. It's a fixed state, we're forever doomed. No premiership for at least 40 years.

It's amusing that you guys think you're above sentimentality because it's pretty obvious you're neck-deep in your own, extremely dark version, still looking for a messiah.

My messiah is the AFL. I can't speak for anyone else Jim. Only way to achieve this is to bottom out completely and I'm hoping that that is just around the corner. "No more loans fellas - you're going to do things our way now" will be music to my ears.

If travel time is an issue, Perth Tasmania is a winner - 5 mins from Launceston Airport, 20km from Aurora Stadium. Bumper population of about 2000 to convert to rusted on blue baggers.

Historic place too..windmill castles a feature

Capping football department spend so heavily is part of the insanity here, as is all the direct intervention on the part of the league.

The AFL still have the power to strip a franchise licence away from a team, but with how thin the game really is across the ground in this country, they'll never really use it. I've got my own ideas on how to fix that, which I cannot be bothered outlining here.

Lol
We are innovating new ways of driving what used to be a powerhouse sporting organization into the ground.
Innovation won't come from this lot.
The CEO was washed up at Adelaide. He used all his cards over there.
He is just bringing us to where Adelaide used to be whilst using his own muscle memory from over there

When your President gets interviewed by Robbo and tells him the Captain of your club is tradeable before the season has even started you know why our club has no hope.

That looks like a putt-putt course. Would be a boon for getting recruits into the joint "now, on a Saturday night after the games you've got the choice of Perth Putt-Putt or the dogs at Launnie." What red blooded 19 year old wouldn't be lining up at the door.

He also told Robbo he thought the club was still a 'top 4 club'. Even Robbo, who is permanently three sheets to the wind, found that hard to stomach.

I mean it's one thing to sell hope (which is what most of you are clinging to) - and it's another to sell false hope (we've all done that), but it's a completely different thing when your head is so far up your arse you can't see the forest for the trees.

Lol, the day the light finally turned on is what that was. No more @#$%&! around, doing things the old way pissing on supporters backs and telling us it's raining.

I was interested in if they would carry that truly into the offseason and they did, stark reality has hit with intention of not continuing in the realms of mediocrity for an extended period of time like we always have. Using the system presented to set standards and bring in elite young talent by the handful instead of drip feeding by the fingers.

Had a process to find the best young coach who can "teach" the youngsters how to play football, removing the 150 years of the messiah coach complex in the process.

It'll hurt next year but it's what supporters have wanted, I'd love to get my hands on survey responses as I'm sure this would be a major point in those responses.

Supporters now know the direction, they'll turn up and buy memberships knowing wins aren't the motive next year and they'll watch with eager intent on the development of the young list.

So for those of you playing at home - 50,000 memberships is the goal. The figure they hope to get to by Christmas is 35,000. That means they'll be hoping to sell 12,000 memberships in the next 35 days. So around 342 per day. Can it be done teaguey? Will there be members?

Can't argue with that but who is a good mate of the President and what process did he go through to get the job?
Who is a good mate of the list manager and what process did he go through to get the job?
I am hoping Synbad is wrong but if keep open the recruiting job whilst the list managers good mate serves out his suspension we should just shut the doors.
Nothing is really changing.

When the AFL and broadcasters get to the point where they want to reduce from 18 licences for entertainments sake, i hope the old Blue boys are set to make the big play and get on the front foot.

Until then i feel we will continue to be the team the big clubs beat on Sunday twilight football.
