It was nice to see Caroline Wilson on Footy Classified join this debate. Only problem is that her argument had more holes in it than a carton of swiss cheese.

Caroline believes Carlton shouldn't get a priority pick...but
1- Melbourne did deserve it
2 - Brisbane deserves it more than Carlton when comparing the two teams "Brisbane has more claim on it"
3 - Carlton won a final two years ago so this precludes them from the pick
4 - whilst two ex-Carlton players are playing in the finals

1- How can Melbourne deserve it more when they were found guilty of tanking and also have massive AFL funding assistance. Something Carlton doesn't get

2 - Brisbane has won 3 premierships in a row 2001, 2002, 2003 and was in the 2004 grand final...and yet somehow they deserve it more. Their recent recruiting/coaching record Caroline overlooks, but she lays the boot into Carlton's.

3- Won a final against Richmond so perhaps that is clouding her impartiality?

4- They are two ex-Carlton players as a RESULT OF free-agency...you know the policy where established players seek greener pastures at another club where they play finals.....its the policy caroline where said club get compensation or not based on some formula that gives Melbourne pick 2 for Frawley and CARLTON gets nothing for Waite.

If the Blues don't get a priority pick at the very least hey can start giving a few extra million in money as per what they have given Hawthorn, North, Melbourne, Brisbane and all the other favoured teams.




Caroline also overlooked THE FACT that Carlton is facing mass exodus of some of their best players - Yarran and Henderson, perhaps Kreuzer. Why the exodus? because Carlton is going to be down the bottom of the ladder for years to come...yet the AFL better not give the Blues one solitary priority pick after their worst ever season. Everyone's argument around us not getting a priority pick seems to be based on the logic that we put ourselves in this situation via bad management of the club and player list.

Well if that is the criteria then no-one will ever qualify because the only way you get this bad is via bad management of the club and player list.

So why have a priority pick then if no one can ever qualify?

- We don't deserve one as everyone wants to leave, due to bad management.
- Brisbane do deserve one as everyone wants to leave, making those people poo-poo heads.

The media is having an each way bet on this issue ... on one hand the media says we have the worst list of all time BUT then say we shouldn't get a priority pick ???

If we don't get a priority pick then who is ever going to get one ... pointless for the AFL to say that a priority pick exists if it is never utilised.

Can't fault this, really.

With 18 teams an compensation selections rebuilding is a nightmare, the AFL need to assist teams towards the bottom rebuilding, I would like to see any teams with lists in disarray like ours and the Lions get priority picks. This is by far the worst Carlton list I have seen.

Priority pick denied.

Both Carlton and Brisbane will not be receiving a priority pick.

Job well done Blues - no PP for us had to mean no PP for Brisbane.

Plus it puts our name up in lights for if we finish last again in 2016.

Leuy will get a second round pick for Brisbane. They can then give it to us for Bell they want him, and we can forward into GWS for our group of targets.
