interesting so many seem to be salivating over pick 2 for Big K. K was a #1, so will #2 be as good as Gumbleton, Livo, Kostchke, Watts. Do we still think we are guaranteed a champion with a high pick?

Big wraps on these guys.
Weirering especially was ready to play AFL this year according to Leppa after he trained with the Lions over pre season.

Big K has never got close to being a valid number one pick

If available, take the number 2 pick and run as fast as you can to ensure it is not a dream

Getting a number 2 pick for an average player could potentially be the 'real' start of our rebuild

Spoon # 4 in the last 14 completed seasons. That is a spoon just a touch over every 3 years.

That's a shit record. Hello AFL we need help.

How many bottom 4 finishes ihave we had over the last 14 seasons?

Would not move Kruezer unless I had a guarantee from AFL of pick 2 signed in Gillon's blood and his testicles stapled to the agreement as collateral for any possible variation

It's got nothing to do with us if he chooses to leave. We get what the rules state we are entitled to.

Can't we match the other clubs offer ?

So we match it unless it is high enough to get us pick 2.

The problem is there is no transparency. So the AFL can just make it up.

The rules regarding what contract size and length gets what band compo aren't published anywhere (are they?)

From AFL Site

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

If it is a decent contract, say 4 years at 700 then we'll get pick 2.

Would just be nice for the AFL to, as my maths teacher would say, show their working

Given we were "shocked" not to get any compo for Waite , I'd say we won't know what pick we would get for Kruzer until after the fact.
