Looking forward to Gibbs giving 100% each game.

It wasn't just 2015
It was the combination of the last 20 finishing with the appointment of Malthouse
To think where we were at 10 years ago to now proves how awful we have been in all areas
The board is largely to blame for this and there still there which is a big worry for me
If we obtain another recycled player for a potential youngster in the next draft I will support the Bulldogs

I don't know if I could support another side but it would be nearly the end for me.

It is never one thing.
It is never just one thing that makes a team have success. Among other things, you need a good coach, good assistant coaches, good development, good recruitment, savvy trading, smart and patient list management, good players/list, and of course a good board with funds to provide the best in training facilities, coaches (see previous point), innovation (on numerous fronts) etc. Oh and a good run with injuries helps too.
And similarly it is never one thing that makes a team suck.
But, in saying that, I think at least in terms of the list, aside from poor recruiting over a sustained period, it could be argued that the midfield core that was able to give the team and the fans some success (finish 5th a few years back) had run its course. That core was Judd (retired), Carrazzo (retired), Simpson (on last legs), Scotland (retired) + Murphy and to a lesser extent Gibbs.
Midfield is king. That’s where it starts and ends, and our midfield has gotten to the end of its shelf life and needs replenishing, fast !

Yep. That would be my choice. Mids, mids and mids. Build a great running side and then pick and chose the key position players to fill holes.

The game is now so much about run and carry and rotations through the midfield. WCE are doing well playing small especially in defence. Bulldogs are all about possession and run but lack real height. Hawthorn are mobile. Sydney to me look sluggish since going tall.

If we grab Weitering with our first pick then the rest need to be mids. Adding Francis Curnow Mathieson Rice Lovell, maybe Treloar to our midfield mix would make a big difference to the look of our side. Maybe we could build the Mosquito Fleet Version 2.

That's what I'm talking about with Version 2. Guys like Cripps C.Curnow Francis Bell etc are all over 190cm and are powerful units. Whiley 188cm. Will let Gibbs, Murphy etc play on the outside. Byrnes another big body that I believe could be a big bodied mid.

i agree that mids are the engine room and without it we cant hope to compete. What worries me is that an inferior midfield can make players like henderson look worse than they are. And now we are letting him go. How would Rance go with the flood F50 entries leaking into our forward line? Is Weitering the answer ? What if we were convinced that we could nab a top shelf mid LIKE treloar in the draft, and then trade for treloar as well. That would give us a quantum leap in our midfield rotations, and in so doing bring many other players into the game.

Boring.
Could have at least tried to be a little bit more controversial.

Moronic article. Rates Buckley as a highlight, players not playing for Malthouse BUT doesn't make the connection that Buckley wasn't getting a game under him... Gutless or stupid media... Likely both
