I am a realist. We are not anywhere near top 4 . But how did we go from fringe 8 to bottom dweller? Interested in everyones thoughts. It is obviously multi factorial. To help out I have created a poll.

If you change 2015 to 1995, you might have the basis of a good starting point.

I ticked every single one of those boxes, without even a hint of sarcasm.

It started in the early 2000's and has just kept rolling along.

I picked my 8 but if there was a box marked "all of the above" I would have chosen that one.

List management probably needed to be in there as we have some good old players and good young ones, but lack quality in the middle and have ended up with an unbalanced list.

Personally I don't see the list as dire as a lot of people have made out.

We have been competitive to half time in most of our games, but run out the games really poor due to young players and poor fitness program and this should be our number one priority during the off season, a new high performance manager would be a good starting point.

you should have 2013 and 2014 and one box to tick - Malthouse

total disaster for this club just when we appeared to be coming out of the dark ages he sent us back further

Outs from 2013
Betts Bootsma Collins Davies Dale Duigan Garlett Hampson Joseph Laidler Lucas Mitchell McCarthy McInnes McLean O'Keefe Robinson Scotland Temay Waite Cachia

Ins from 2013
Boekhorst Cripps Dick Docherty Everitt Foster Giles Holman Jaksch Jones Smith Thomas V-Rainbow Whiley Bryne Fields Gowers Johnson Russell Sheehan Walsh Wood Tutt

I suspect part of the answer lies in those two lists and the judgment on has it improved or not?.

Scotland and Betts are the big outs.

Our kids are better than those we dumped in 2013, BB, Cripps, Doc, Holman, KJ with a few yet to play in DVR and Giles.

I didn't select injuries.

Sure, the injuries are piling up now that we're sending everyone for surgery, but our season was done long before the injuries to Gibbs, Murphy, Casboult, Graham etc.

We broke players and drove them away. Maybe on purpose to move malthouse on and start a rebuild..Maybe that was a prerequisite to SOS accepting his role..

The problem is that it is missing C.Judd. He has carried the whole club.

Look at the quality players that we discarded or lost for pretty much zero return.

I had us in the bottom 4 this year

I would have too but it would allow me 8 options so I dropped the references to age.

What a crap year, crap coach, crap list, and huge skill/ class shortage....but we can build from what we've got.

My first thought was who did we lose and could still be playing.
Then I thought of all the drafting duds in rounds 1 and 2...and it goes back to Hartlett Bower draft in mid 2000's...no wonder there's no depth.
