Yeah, nah.
Murphy is easily A grade when on his game.

That would be silly. GIBBS is talent - he may not be a hard man, but talent he has. Get rid of him and go back another 2 years and a lucky dip in the draft for an equally talented footballer - then take 4 years for him to mature.

Keep GIBBS unless a trade like Dangerfield is offered.

That is what is so frustrating he has all the talent but lacks effort.

Not everyone is expected to be a hard man but effort should be non negotiable.

The fact he has been our leading tackler with 5.4 per game despite playing injured indicates effort to me. What exactly are you after?
4th at Carlton for contested possessions, 3rd for clearances.

Stats are stats.

If you tackle someone right next to you as opposed to running and chasing they are different things.

I think most will agree there are tackles and there are tackles.

Maybe I am too harsh but he shits me to tears. His effort is lacking in my opinion.

As far as injured, most play injured and not an excuse.

I will stop ranting as he is probably a nice kid it is just frustrating seeing a kid with that much talent not give 100 percent.

End of rant, I will leave the kid alone now.

There's chase down tackles, and then there's tackles while trying to stop a bloke with a head full of steam as you're getting smashed into yourself.

There's no lack of effort in either one, just how many of each you can get near given your athletic capabilities.

Murphy is easily A grade when on his game.

When he's not tagged out of the game... and when his kicks don't land a meter short of his team mate.

But I think he can get back to his best with better support around.

True I just feel he can do more.

I hope so he is a talent no doubt.

I will leave it there I have done enough Bryce bashing for a lifetime.

Good luck to the kid.

I'd make Gibbs captain.

I reckon the responsibility would bring the best out of him more consistently and he'd have more authority than Murph.

Murphs a v.good player but not a captain.
