How many genuine footballers do we have on our list we had a core group that didnt achieve what they could have alot of those players will be out the door next year so who on our list will take us forward how many genuine potential premiership players do we have right now

Murphy
Cripps
Menzel
Docherty
Tuohy
Everitt
Casbolt
Kruezer
Thomas
Gibbs
White
Bell

These are the only guys i could think of with potential upside on B.B, Holman, Jaksch, Smith, Bucks

That is slim pickings but not terrible and with a good injection of kids and new young coach i hope we can build a team around them they say we will get 5 inside the top 20 and the father and son injection the future is exciting

We are not a bad as everybody thinks, footy can change quickly the pendulum can swing

We have hit rock bottom the only way is up

No love for Daisy? Sorry, my bad didnt see him on the list at first glance. He was probably off your post and in the medical room when i first looked!

I would definitely put bucks in that list rather than potential, I think he has already shown that he plays with the passion required to make it.

The others that I rate of potential is Smith and Sheehan, still way too early on both these, but I can see these as starting 22 in next 2 years.

Being generous with Gibbs. He needs to show more. I fear he will always be shuffling along in 2nd gear, picking and choosing how much effort he puts in.

White is rubbish. How he has survived on our list for 7 odd years is an indictment. Don't understand the love for him around here.

Take out White as he is no good
Take our Bell and Menzel too as they are certain to be traded.

Hows that list looking ?

It's okay but laclks leadership. Cripps & Murphy is about it.

If there was a Callan Ward type around as he was when recruited for GWS I would jump at it. 21/22 year old, tough and leadership qualities with 10 years ahead of him.

True, but he needs help and I don't want to ruin him.

As I've said before, sign Cripps up for 10 years along with the best financial advice money can buy. That would set him up for life.

Sign Docherty for 5 years, Kreuzer for 4 and Holman for 3. Everyone else is open to negotiation.

Can't agree Duke. It's those type of contracts that have us in the trouble we are now.

Kruezer is injury prone. Holman is yet to fully prove himself. Docherty & Cripps I would happily give 3 year deals.

Strange our strike rate with Irish players is far better than our strike rate with Australian players.

And our Irish players kick better than 90% of our Australian ones as well.

For me the core group is Murphy, Gibbs, Docherty, Cripps, Jaksch. Add Kreuzer and Menzel depending on the outcome of trade week.

That's about it. I'm not saying guys like Bell, Casboult, Graham, Buckley etc aren't decent players and capable of long careers, but they are expendable and replaceable, whereas the list above isn't IMO.

Bell wants out so don't include him on the list. He wants to return to Queensland - swap for Aish perhaps?

At the moment our the core of our entire club resembles something like this:

That's probably the most logical. May involve some other picks or another player but I can see it happening

I actually think it's the opposite Agro. The club needs dramatic change. Tough decisions need to be made. The big picture is for us to become a powerhouse again on and off the field.

I like what is happening. A few players will not be happy and we may well lose some good ones but this needs to happen. No more mediocrity. We need to build for No.17 and beyond. Finally we are doing it right by going to the draft and putting a strong process in place to select our next coach.
