Barker staying as Asst Coach/Coach of the reserves or Head of Development would be a positive IMO.

Arranges the chair at the coaches meeting and serves coffee

If you have a strong Director of Football you don't need one for coaching.

Yep,
Had the balls to drop Menz, Yazz repeatedly
Was going to drop Hendo this week if he hadn't nicked off.
No more always playing the underperforming senior players and dropping the kids like MM used to.
Reckon its more than just Barker though.

Geez I would hate for us to have to settle for Barker.

Which part of Barker's presentation didn't you like?

Probably the bit on match day.

Ok, need to hear something positive. We need this coach in place as they have a lot of work to do.

When, anyone ? McKay yesterday said they have definetely not made their mind up. Dont trust anything that vanilla guy says, trudges off the same old line everytime.

If they've made their minds up, and it's Bolton, then the delay makes sense .... there's probably a lot of tricky negotiating going on behind the scenes with Hawthorn.

Hawks are desperate for a 3-peat - one of their assistants just had a family tragedy, and the other wants to accept a senior coaching role.
Not ideal for them

Whoever our new coach is, I'd like them to bring in a club-wide rule that if a player has to jump to take possession of the ball they immediately punch it as hard as they can to our goal. Almost every single time a player takes possession mid jump they are pounced on which often results in a holding the ball decision.

At the very least it almost always ends in a ball-up. If the team is drilled in this new 'Duke rule' they will automatically know that the ball is going 20m to our end and start to run in that direction.

Just a thought :smoking: .

Not bad, ; but if it ever was successful repeatedl, the opposition will just plonk a player 20m back in that position.

Right, so why do we need a director of coaching then? :P

I'm open to the idea, but I'd like to know what he would actually do.

If he's an older head who Bolton and the rest of the coaching panel can tap into as a sounding board, without being caught up in the minutiae of day to day coaching, I can understand the position.

In my mind it's not dissimilar to a sales excellence, marketing excellence etc position, which can work very well if the the person in the role understands what the role is (and isn't).

If we end up with a relatively young panel with significant player turnover, i could see the merit in considering it.

Would such a person need to be on the club's full-time staff? Couldn't the same be offered in a part-time mentoring role?

Good question. Could be either, and I'd say Bolton (or whoever is coach) would have a big say on that

I dont think we need a director of coaching. If your going bolton, you want him to come in and do everything clarko style. You dont want some muppet putting his view on boltons strategy. I think we should be picking anyone that needs a director of coaching. If we are, we are picking someone not ready. Put good assistants around him and he should be fine

HUN today saying that the decision is 3-2 in favour of Bolton so he is not necessarily over the line.
Does anyone get the feeling that Barker will get the job?

Hahaha

Very good

I tend to agree but am trying to thin positively about his first month rather than the rubbish in the last month.

Yep I have this feeling that Barker will get the roll, cause we are Carlton and it's better the devil we know.

Also if it's true that Barket made the decision to tell Hendo to pack his bags, that sounds like a confident guy to me.

i hope it's not barker ... he seems like he could be just a mouthpiece for all the front office buffoons who think they know stuff. barker seems to ready to tow the corporate line rather than do anything else effectively.

need someone to coach us who's not in any way associated with this club for the last decade.

Braithwaite agree. There is something about him that bugs me. Apart from the fact that he has been there for 6 years already. He seems to always say the words the club are wanting to hear, like a puppet. and Brown nose.

We need someone from outside the club.

Where is the article Kezza? Is this vote from the committee?
