First of all to all and sundry I was right and you guys who thought we were on the right path were wrong.MM [REDACTED] this club up the arse and his legacy will live on at this club for a few more years with Jones, Thomas still on big money contracts. When a guy is handed a senior coaching job when it was clear the previous club thought he was passed it through their actions flowers off around Australia to promote his book about how great he was leaves a shallow list that he thinks is knocking on the door of a flag your in big trouble
The people involved in this appointment should leave. Of course it's hard to sack a Pratt. Essentially the board is the ultimate problem. The recruiting last year was a disgrace
Tutt
Jones
Thomas
Dick
Boekhurst
Jaksch
Whiley
Fields
Wood
Matured aged hacks who are contracted next year and beyond.
On top of this getting rid of
Laidler
Betts
McLean
Gartlett
@#$%&! me

So enough of the past what about the future
Coach

Not Barker. We need to appoint a guy from the outside. At least a thorough interview process
Is taking place at last
Recruiting
Must pick kids over the next 5 years . More hits and misses. We must start from the ground up
Trades
Trade Yarran and Henderson for no less than a second rounder. That would mean 4 picks in roughly the first 25
Dump
Guys that clearly are not up to it whose contract is up
Fitness
This will depend on the new coach but clearly we have failed in this area as well. Even our senior players lack strength and size
Have a stand alone reserves team
A no brainer
I have strong faith that sos will do a good job and the guys on the coaching interview panel will get the right man that's a start.
The only good thing this year has been Cripps.Graham as well but if want to keep these 2 guys we must give them some incentive to stay. Give them hope that there is future for them here.
I can only hope the board goes as well. We must get it right in all these areas.
So endeth the lesson

You had me at hello.

But you lost me when you said you'd accept second rounders for Yarran and Henderson.

A lot of good points, but think you re going too early with the dismissal of BB, Whiley, Jacksh and Fields. I know the early signs don't look good, but give them a chance to see what they can do under a competent coach (JB being only a caretaker whose hands are tied in many ways).
Also, Wood has done what he was brought to the Club to do. Remember, he is our 3rd choice ruckman.

He ndo for second rounder
Yazz for second rounder
I'm happy with that

The players mentioned that I reckon are shit will be there in 2016 so we keep them anyway
Trust me list cloggers
We kept Watson because he kicked 4 goals in a meaningless game last year
We need to raise the bar at every level

Surely Jaksch deserves more time, like all big blokes. He'll be ok. Given that was pick 7, if he turns out well, then anything we get of out Whiley and Boekhorst are essentially a bonus as it all essentially came in the same pick.

We would be getting bent over very badly if we take second rounders for Yarran and Hendo.

These players are easily worth the same value as some unknown kid in the teens of the draft. A pick around the 10 mark for either of them please.

if we take second rounders for those two, we are stuffed.

I agree about raising the bar. We need to.

I still have some hope for Boekhurst, Jaksch & Whiley. The rest can go. If Henderson & Yarran get traded, Carrazzo & Judd retire I reckon we cna get rid of about another 3-4 players. Draft isn't that deep and I believe SOS will want to turn over 8-10 players a year for the next 3 seasons to build the list he wants.

It will be an important trade period for us.

..first round picks for Henderson and Yarran, if they go.. ....a new coach could very well harness their talent to a greater degree, both are good players, in the right age and experience bracket.. ..second round picks is a big loss for us..

Your expectations are too high. You can't expect trading people who have already checked out mentally and performed below par by their own standards for the year to be a win. Trading people like that is always a loss so it's a matter of is it a small loss or a big loss. Second rounders are a small loss. Losing them for zero (like Betts, Waite, Garlett, etc) is a big loss.

Accept the small loss and don't hold out for a win......because that will result in a big loss.

If the club let Yarran and Henderson go for second rounders. They might as well rip the monogram off the jumper and replace it with a turd. It would be two more player decisions for the list of recent shockers.

it wont happen anyway.

A player being dissatisfied over one thing or another is quite normal , it can occur in any club, especially when one is down and out , standing going no where .
We'll get fair value for both Hendo & Yarran , especially so if we in a strong i favorable trading position , 1st pick in the PSD.

Best thing the club did for the future was part ways with Sir Lunchalot.

How do you raise the bar by getting unders for Hendo and Yarran, it's this sort of shit trading/ recruiting that's got us where we are today FFS!!!
