Before we think of trading out players for draft picks and the glory the number 1 draft pick might bring, we need a strong board who's going to make the right decisions, elite recruiters and a solid coaching/development group. Until we fix those key areas, extra draft picks and trading out players is just shuffling the deck chairs....we'll be in the same position in 3 years time.

The full weight of the Madhouse appointment is now bearing down on the Carlton FC and its going to be a heavy burden. A coach might not not make a side ... but he can certainly break a side.

Its gunna be a long climb back. Tonight was horrible ... get use to it.

You all bag the club as much as you want, they aren't as stupid as you all want them to be.

How stupid are they?

The coach may conceivably be following orders but I wouldn't think the conspiracy spreads as far as the entire playing group. Do you?

And you don't reckon the players know the coach is following orders?

Or that their coach probably won't be there next year. They are dispirited, distracted and despondent.
They are going through the motions, playing out time till the end of the year.

How were the WB's travelling toward the end of 2014?

Not saying we'll make the same rate of improvement (cause their list is superior), but a fresh start with certainty about their coach and their futures will make a significant difference to on field performance

You missed a golden opportunity there to use, "their", "there" and "they're" all in the one line.
Doesn't come around often.

They're not playing their best footy knowing that Barker won't be there next year.

The Board..... seriously, relax....they have a Palestinian and a Jew on it so they'll work it out no doubt.....

And to the rest of you...relax....early in the second quarter as future Captain lined up for goal, good ol Dermie was predicting that we would flog them....we then had a bad few quarters......As Douglas Adams might say....relax.

That Was pathetic. One of the worst performances by players in navy blue. Well the lions won't be getting a priority pick. Robbo may have been an idiot, but he plays like a kamikaze and showed us up tonight. good weekend for Carlton rejects. Certainly this means JB won't be getting the job. Whoever Does get it has a lot if work ahead.

This is true but who makes the change? Unless Fraser Brown or someone else with a shitload of money raises an opposition ticket with new-look candidates, the current board will still be around when we hand in the keys to PP in a few years.

The club does NOT listen to the members or supporters. They think it's all about sponsorship and pokies money and forget the gate and membership sales. It's been posted elsewhere several times but we have lost an entire generation of future supporters. I went into a shop to buy a Carlton jumper for my kid last time I was in Tassie and the shelves were packed with them while Hawthorn and Geelong, Collingwood and even Brisbane and Sydney were all sold and or only had XXXL sizes left. Why wold a kid in Hobart want to buy a Brisbane or Sydney jumper? It beggars belief that they would ask their parents for that.

No kid in school wants to be seen dead in a Navy Guernsey.

That's the future unless we get some on-field success. Doesn't have to be flags but we have to get back into September action or there will be no club.

In my opinion, if we don't turn this around within five years or less, we will merge or fold. We're worse than Fitzroy was at the end.

Brisbane still may finish below us as they have a tough 3 games coming up.. They could drop enough percentage for it to happen.

Although we should get an almighty smashing in our last game.

BS, Fitzroy won 5 of their last 61 games. We're not even close to that bad.

We've won three this year.

How many games are we into the 66 game rebuild?

Brisbane are a very, very good football side.

Games won is one stat.
We're headed down their path. There is no doubt they're redacted on and off the field.

I just went on to Facebook and read some of the posts. In the end I just had to post this.

It should give Moshe something to work with.

"To paraphrase some of our more esteemed comments: "I'm guttered. I wouldn't of thought this possible. There not interested in paying for there club. Their needs to be a shake up of the board. None of them are good enough. They think there to good to play hard footy. What would the passed player's be thinking? They must all of been guttered as well."

We're turning into the Collingwood cheer squad of commenters.

A big difference between Carlton and Fitzroy. Fitzroy had no home. They were nomads with no ground, and their head office was a pub.

Carlton is too big to fold or merge.. Richmond where rubbish for 30 years, and still around...

If the time comes where things are so bad that there is no more Carlton, the AFL probably wont be the number one sport in this city at that time. The tide is already going out on the AFL and they would never want to lose a premium license like Carlton. And imagine having Essendon* in the gutter for a long time as well... and 40k and 45k crowds becoming the norm at the big Melbourne games.

I'm not sure if the AFL really give a shit about crowds at the ground, but crowds not turning up to the footy, probably translates into people not caring to watch it on TV too (like me).

We just need to finish the year off giving the kids experience, get a few top rated juniors in few the draft and trades, and get good pre-season into group. A few back from injury wont hurt either..
