"Has been linked to Carlton"

i.e. The word "Craig" has a C, an A, and an R in it.
Those are the first 3 letters of "Carlton".

Hey presto! Caro links Craig to Carlton!

Craig is linked to Buttifant's job pretty sure.

I don't know much about Bolton other than the obvious of what he did when Clarko was sick, but I'll be happy if he gets it simply because it's someone from the outside & a gun club. Look @ Simpson, Beveridge and even Hardwick.

Barks seems like a good guy but he's tainted for being around for too long - as unfair as that might be.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way em. I like barker... But the thought of someone from outside our bubble, makes the most sense.

Craig in a duel role... Fitness and coaching director. That be huge for a rookie coach to have behind him.

Does anyone know what kind of ego Craig has? Will he not impose himself too hard as director?

We can't have someone who hasn't played at AFL level. Failed each time. Even if they're smart and know how to coach they just don't get the respect of the players.

You might want to tell Hawthorn that considering he's been touted as a given to take over from Clarkson once he leaves.

Or what about the 5 from 5 he won when taking over. Did the players suddenly lose respect for the man in charge, or was it the message that was the most important factor?

This had been discussed a few times on here, with the comparison to other sports and the changing of the role as reasons as to why it may no longer be relevant.

And by "failed", I assume your including John Cahill and Neil Craig taking their teams to Prelims? Sure they've never got the ultimate prize, but if the players - as you put it - "had no respect for them" they would not have got that far.

Why they 'failed' to go the next step could have been because of a dozen different factors. Adelaide were minor Premiers and flag favourites. I'm sure it didn't all fall apart just because the players suddenly found out he'd never played AFL.

Most kids wouldn't have even heard of Phil Walsh, Ken Hinkley, Adam Richardson or Al Clarkson any more than Brendan Bolton.

I'm sure they'd heard of Voss, Hird, Watson etc and that got them nowhere.

He'll be surrounded by assistants that have recent AFL experience and they'll be the line coaches that will influence them as much as the senior coach anyway....
