Pretty sure Murphy a few years back stuck the middle finger up to the Collingwood cheer squad.
The 3 brain cells that the cheer squad have between the lot of them, well one of those brain cells has remembered this incident.

People calling Murphy soft either have no idea about football or don't watch it with any knowledge of the game. I would say Collingwood supporters would fit into those categories.

Aren't they the same category?

Murph is Captain, Number 1 draft pick, plays in the middle, gets a lot of the ball, and he got one or two dubious frees.

Of course the scum are going to boo him!
Just ignore it.

Some players are more disliked than others by opposition supporters , and if they get an excuse (e.g. a dubious free kick) then of course they will boo.

The booing was definitely kicked off by the course of the free kicks paid as the match went on.
I think the marginal 50m paid against Buckley was the catalyst - because then they felt guilty and needed to pay one our way to even it up, and of course the black and white army of rage didn't like that.

Murphy is a great player for his type.
Never going to belt anyone, but takes a lot of punishment and moves the ball for his team.
FWIW i thought he had a great game - definitely one of our best.

Don't read too much into booing.

Dull game.

Pros:
Cripps!
Murphy
Kreuzer
Casboult
Simpson
Everitt

Cons:
Wood
Henderson
Walker

Clem Smith looked like he doesn't belong at this level yet.
But yes, for pick 61, I suppose you can afford him a bit of patience.

Walker disappointed me.

Overall it was a pedestrian game. No urgency, no agro, no energy, no atmosphere..
Pendles and Swan racking up the possessions, but no real harm in it.
Fasolo putting on a few highlights for the crowd.
I felt like we were definitely tanking, and I wasn't really sure what Collingwood were doing.
You wouldn't realize they are a team fighting for their spot in the 8.

Not sure that either side deserved the peter mac trophy.

I felt like all the passion had been drained out of the game.

Game lacked atmosphere for sure 11 playing 17 but thought that game apart from the result we could take some heart from

Cripps sensational -Murphy last 3 weeks has been excellent and has had a fine season given the circumstances
thought bokehorst Holman and whiley showed a bit
still like the look of smith and should continue to play him

Kreuz battled manfully - Simmo best he has been for weeks - thought hendo was better this week -Everett was also good

Levi needs to get more involved but took a couple of good marks and is kicking well for goal

Bell blazed away a bit particularly kicking for goal - wood was ordinary - walker isn't fit still troubled with knee - don't understand why Jaksch isn't playing - rowe and white are just going

For various reasons - yarran menzel graham Thomas gibbs byrne knockers not playing so thought we did ok

No, I don't think he did. What exactly had he done prior to 2008, for your football club, to "deserve" the captaincy? He was hardly a great leader at West Coast and got the gig in name only for PR reasons. My feelings really have little to do with Judd or Carlton. It just doesn't sit well with me when other blokes who have busted a gut for their clubs get over looked to lure big names across.

Maybe that's partly why he was booed every week. Lots of people didn't like Judd for lots of reasons. Lots of people didn't like Buckley, Hird or Voss for lots of reasons. All 4 bloody good footballers. But also all 4 very unlikeable to opposition supporters.

Anyway, I'll let you all get back to your Mensa conference and I'll take my opinions and go back to my sheltered workshop. Clearly I am no match for the brains trust that is Talking Carlton.

Yeah you're right about Judd....

Should have instead gone for Fev the alcoholic.
Lance the lazy fat forward.
An inexperienced Simmo..
An unstable Nick Stevens
An undisciplined Waite
or an Unskilled Andrew Carrazzo.

Kouta had retired, so yeah leadership wise we had a plethora of options.

Murphy is one of the most boring people in footy...I'm actually impressed he's able to get a reaction

When did we all get so serious?

Oh I'm upset because the opposition fans are booing.

You don't know what elite means.

After a season like this, it was time to chill out a long time ago.

I got serious the time I now "pick and choose" when getting called a "dago / wog" offends me.
