i can't believe that people still see the #1 pick as a panacea. Murph has been very good, better than Pendles? Gibbs has been reasonable, better than Boak or Selwood? Big K has been okay, better than Cotchin, Dangerfield Harry Taylor, Rance or Rioli?. Almost always there is very little between various players and good drafting rather than the top pick gets you talent.

I only want it because if Brisbane get the compensation pick, and finish on the bottom they'll wind up with Pick 1 and 2.

I think Andrew Cavedon and Tim Rienets might give us a bit less

Blues by 10 goals...

...just to infuriate our supporters

You don't have much time fir White jimmae. He struggled as a mid on the wkend but is a way better defender than Sam Rowe, and about our only player with any mongrel. No way will he be dropped. Agree Cam Wood is a libility.

Rowe spares Casboult from rucking but if White has better matchups then he stays and Levi sucks it up.

Suns will beat the scum in R21 so we'll finish 17 even if we beat Brisbane.

Lets win this for kids like Cripps Holman et al

But if they win by 25, we lose by 25.

If we lose 80-60 % are Carlton 66.55, Brisbane 66.43.

If we lose 85-60 % are Carlton 66.38. Brisbane 66.68.

The AFL can decide to give Brissie any amount of compo picks they want in any situation.
It's out of anyone's control.

Let's just focus on winning

No tanking

I do not believe the AFL will give Brissie picks 1 and 2. Yes, they're shifty. Yes, they love sticking it to us. Yes, they favor teams in "developing markets". But nonetheless they surely would want to see more people turn up to the games we play against the bigger Melbourne clubs; attendances there have been embarrassing. If they rob us of the opportunity to draft the KP player we so desperately need, it would go a long way towards killing the second oldest (behind Melbourne, marginally) and most successful club in the comp. And they know it.

As an aside, I actually think the Essendon* saga will have a hand in softening the AFL's approach to us. They know they can't save Essendon* from a prolonged period of crap, but they can and will take steps to ensure we are able to rebuild. The AFL needs at least one of us to be competitive.

Like I said a few pages ago, a quiet phone call to the AFL, assuring them they will get a competitive game this weekend, if they make certain assurances, and everyone will be happy.

Dunno if that's the wisest idea AGRO :-P

That'd be like me walking up to a mafia boss, telling him if he wants anyone to rock up to his pizza shop this w/e, he better promise not to touch my family... then give him a wink, a shoulder slap and walk off.

Watch him then kill my family, make pizza out of them and offer me a free meal just to prove a point.
