Could be a record low crowd

I've been thinking this for a few weeks now. My Collingwood mates are about as happy as we are with the way their season is progressing.
Imagine a Carl/Coll game at the G with 40, 000. It could happen.

Didnt it happen last year? It was the Sunday night game and it was awful weather, I think Eddie wanted compensation.

Yeah it was just over 40k from memory.

The MCG website has the expected attendance for this match at 47k, but if they're to get there then a lot of Collingwood supporters are going to have to attend as Carlton supporters don't go anymore (we were outnumbered on Saturday night by North fans!).

Are you sure it was a North fan?

Haven't seen one of those in a while.

They were all at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night!

You know things are going badly when Carlton fans are outnumbered by North fans...

Henderson disinterested?
14 disposals against Hawthorn with 8 marks including 3 contested which is equal second highest from either side. In a team that had 32 inside 50s for the game.
This week, 11 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 90.9% disposal efficiency in the worst forward line in the AFL that had 37 inside 50s to work with.

A bit harsh I would have thought.

In the matchday thread, I said as much a few minutes into the 2nd quarter just after he'd taken his 3rd contested mark and someone said he's "disinterested" (probably meaning "uninterested"). At that point, I thought he was close to our best player.

These are memes and people just take them on (not knowing they're memes - that's how memetics works). Examples of memes:

1. Henderson and Yarran aren't interested.
2. You bought a jeep??
3. Not happy Jan!
4. Barker can't coach (was already around BEFORE Malthouse was sakced).
5. Menzel must be playing hurt

There are lots of them if you look. They have no real basis, no one really knows where they came from - except maybe the commercial ones (2 & 3), but they're now in the culture.

True but Casboult is an okay ruckman and he needs to get more involved in the game. If he runs in the ruck 25%, big K would be forward. Wood is an average ruckman and a liability up forward. On Saturday we tried to press North and stop them moving the ball from defence quickly, but Wood was too slow to be effective up forward which gave North an out every time.

TBH, I thought North went through Yarran's man more often then not

Hendo isn't disinterested, he is just playing like shit and lacking physicality. Play him in defence and pick Jaksch forward. If it isn't working, swap them around.

I don't think we need a particularly tall backline for this match, so as much as I love him, drop Rowe. He is out of form.

Jamison and Henderson as key backs (like it always should have been) with the usual blokes supporting them.

Casboult, Everitt and Jaksch forward.

Dunno what to do about Yarran. Can't see anything changing for him until he wants it to. All about attitude.

Graham an auto-selection if he is fit. Holman would be good to have in as a mid/fwd too.

I believe they have beaten us 10 out of the last 12.

I believe we are 4 games clear of them overall.

So when he backs into packs, he's lacking physicality?

It's been lacking, though improved lately.

The guy is supposed to be a power forward but doesn't seem to win a 1v1 unless he is backing away from his opponent, and I can't remember the last time he has burst away from a defender to take a mark on a lead.

I really like him as a player but won't excuse his shortcomings of late. He is much better than how he is going.

Absolutely I did, and for good reason, but at least I will give the place a second go.

He's not a power forward. He doesn't have the size like Casboult or Jonathon Brown, whilst he doesn't have the straight line speed of Fevola or Lloyd type leading forward.

He is a smart, skilled forward

A lot of vicious negativity going around that was frustrating for quite a while and capped off with someone having a go at me during a non-footy discussion that wasn't on. Logged off and didn't log on for a long time.

I dont think we were outnumbered we just didnt cheer as loud as North Supporters ,as we knew we wouldnt win .One thing I do know,if we were fighting for a place in the 8 and they were in our shoes there would have been a crowd of 40000+ instead of the 26000. North have a small supporter base even when they are winning not like us if we are winning we go ,we just dont make alot of noise

..they're playing like a completely different team lately.. ..cloke isn't that much of a loss, although his absence does hurt them.... ..but they're giving us a run for our money in the blind bombs and hospital handpasses stakes.. ..structures' breaking down, woeful skills etc..

The Malthouse legacy of both sides is obviously deeply ingrained.

Agree. I believe their list is a mile ahead of ours but their coaching is pathetic.
