The undercurrent of Barker's presser surely was "it's my job on the line or it's certain player's jobs on the line"...

If Barker is to survive, he needs to do what it takes to field a competitive team.

If that means dropping some of the "regular" players - so be it.

Barker can't be axed at the end of the season regretting that he put up with players who did not play for the team.

Do it Johnny, and do it NOW!!

He basically said with so many players unavailable, there is no one else to really bring in.

At least he's calling a spade a spade, and exposing the truth instead of protecting people with the usual bullshit rhetoric...

Carlton caretaker coach John Barker admits too many players just going through motions after heavy defeat to North Melbourne.

I think he's just asking you which players do you think won't be at the club next year.
That's all.

Its not important...
We don't have a coach .. how can we know?

Oh yeah we have a list manager who might be looking at the world differently to the new coach..

our problem is who is happy to be in the environment ...

its ridiculous to talk about who will go when everybody has already checked out spiritually...

thought I made that clear

When U begin a home .. U look for schools.. public transport.. parks ..shops etc
Then U have a vision of the kind of home you're after to suit what youre creating
Then U create the best home environment you possibly can.. furniture.. warm colours.. etc
AND you nurture your family with love caring attention etc.

We've created nothing that is meaningful ...just a shell.. with a great TV and just stuff that looks good from the outside

Correct. You said they all want to leave. Somebody then correctly mentioned a few who might want to leave and then asked you who else you thought wanted to. He even took the time to mention his honest interest in your opinion. I don't dissagree with your post above but you have avoided the question as usual. No biggie. I agree it's not really important but plenty of stuff on here is not important. You could have still answered the question. But let's be honest, nobody here actually expected you to answer a question that made you give specifics re your usual general sweeping negativity.

The content of your post above is however probably true.

You have to look for positives otherwise the negative sentiment does nothing to ameliorate the problems

These may be cosmetic/tokenistic/a decade late/band aid...call it whatever you like, but at least:

1. we now have a list manager
2. we've identified the club needs a rebuild
3. we're going through a process to appoint a coach
4. maybe a puppet prez, but has come from a successful commercial background
5. An OK CEO (I think Trigg is a good operator)

If we had the 5 points above even 3 years ago, this club would've started turning things around (probably with Alan Richardson as our coach) by now for flowering sure

A bit late but some small stones are in place. Just have to strap ourselves in for a long haul bumpy flight

Bruise free footy again...

For the Kangas, Swallow had 7 tackles...

Official award for the most pointless stat tonight goes to Wet Willie.

Firrito Goldstein Tarrant Thomas Wright Del Santo Garner Gibson Turner had 5 tackles between them and Cripps had 6. Does that make the Roos bad and Carlton good?

Thanks Crippa, but my point was based on Carlton only (don't care about Kangas...). 12 of our 18 players (2 thirds) had a low level or zero level of tackles. We are still playing way below what is needed in this area.

Many of these players are playing on the back line...

Yeah that's true. I think I was just frustrated at last night's second half and didn't see the point of your post at the time but I think I see what you were trying to say now.

So Barker's now blaming the players. I thought that was a no-no around here...

That's the crux of what I witnessed last night, and I'd dare say for a few seasons now. Too many players going through the motions, earning their paychecks.

Take a look at Richmond. Don't tell me Richmond is chocoblock full of stars. Yet they're managing to knock off the best talent laden teams going around. As Clarko himself said at the presser "We were beaten by a more hungry outfit who wanted it more tonight"

People complain about our lack of skills, which do count, but a thousand sins can be covered by sheer determination, which Richmond showed again can indeed bridge the gap.

There is no use saying this player or that player without knowing who's injured, who's having issues with form and what not. But surely the club knows, and if their fairdinkum they'll swing the axe at seasons end and cull this deadwood.

On a positive note from the game I thought Levi is doing better. His kicking for goal is improving and I like him up forward. I think he's someone we should stick with who will pay dividends in the coming seasons.

Absolutely loving Kreuzer. He's going to get better and better if he can stay injury free. Loved his determination and willingness to hunt the ball regardless. Heart of a lion.

Boekhorst was a nice surprise bobbing up here and there. Needs more time, looks underdone. A couple pre-seasons in the weight room wont hurt him none. Confidence player? ...

Murphy. The guy should be given a medal for the **** he puts up with each week. I know people bag him out, but I have nothing but admiration and respect for Mark Murphy.

Cripps is Cripps. For now at least. He will really show his mental worth if he can maintain himself without catching the cancerous disease thats rife through Carlton at the minute. Keep putting in son, don't worry about those just going through the motions.

Its not fun being a Carlton supporter these days. No fun at all. But when the interim coach tells it like it is at the presser, here's to hoping those at the club will do the right thing and chop chop chop at seasons end.

You want names?
Nobody is playing to their potential. As far as players who have been at the club more than five minutes.. Won't be long to those that have been set the club to follow the others.. And only the next group who have been at the club for less than five minutes wanting to leave too
It's an environmental disaster.
Why do you need specifics? Lol
Seriously! Some people... Lol

Guys that try don't have other options or are hanging on by the fingernails before they also slide down into that pit of darkness and emptiness

What a cop out to the players a few geelong boys been told the same and they are NOT shirking they have more pride

There's a difference between being told you should retire and being told we want to trade you for draft picks no matter what.

A fwiw - no geelong player has been told they are gone. They have just been told to wait until the end of the year.

BTW this isn't about the north game or the hawthorn game.
It's an observation on most of the last decade and more.
Think back..

Depressed player after depressed player
What's asked of them and how we as a club have supported them ( apart from money) is a bridge too far

If true, then go out and prove to the world that the club is [REDACTED] in letting you go.....

You've also told us that SOS is flirting with trying to get Band1 for Kreuzer, but he's still plowing through opponents like a man possessed.

Yep I said "flirting" which means he's a chance to stay. Whereas others have been told no chance.
