I thought we had less obvious passengers than last week in terms of effort. It was like a game of basketball and both sides went back and forth across the ground. We failed to take bold options, North managed to eventually movevthe ball through the corridor.

Yarran worked much harder than the last few weeks, but was caught out badly a few times as per 2nd efforts post. Menzel didn't work hard enough, and Everitt's defence is way short if his attack, but over all we tried to press them and keep them moving backwards, but players got lost and a few dropped off and guys like Wood don't have the capacity to run with the North defenders.
North had better cleaner skills and took decisive options whereas we were mainly unprepared to kick more than 20 metres and almost always sideways.
Actually highlight of the night was a pinpoint 50 mete pass under enromous pressure by Yarran, shows just the skill he has.

Polishing a turd can't be easy.

This will take years and years to correct.. Probably with our set up.. It will never be corrected

..crisps had 6, krooz and Curnow and doc all had 5, there's a few that give maximum effort..

....I think simmo is shell shocked, his time is near..

..well run clubs off field, strong spread of on field leadership,, And they didn't tank and get smashed for a decade..

Official award for the most pointless stat tonight goes to Wet Willie.

Firrito Goldstein Tarrant Thomas Wright Del Santo Garner Gibson Turner had 5 tackles between them and Cripps had 6. Does that make the Roos bad and Carlton good?

..game was played on their terms.. ..not good terms and they are pretenders, but still they belted us by ten goals.. ..we played bruise free cos we can't be bothered, they did cos it was easier and still belted us.. ..they got away with it, we didn't..

WHY can't they do it for 4 quarters?????????????
And they decided to switched off for the rest of the game. Don't give me crap about confidence, it's all about laziness and being able to get away with it. Some of the players have been doing this for far too long.

Their freedom of switching on an off is really pissing me off.

..agreed, too many players pick and choose.. ..but there is also the directive and barker is just doing as he is told.. ..at half time I just knew we'd go back to the first quarter style and not play like we did in the second quarter until the game was truly out of reach..

..yep, this is why I don't believe any talk about the club turning the corner.. ..same crap board, a hot air puppet prez, new crap ceo.. ..and a fat contract to sos just to be told to tank and sell off players for more picks..

Thanks. The quotes cleared it up.

The undercurrent of Barker's presser surely was "it's my job on the line or it's certain player's jobs on the line"...

If Barker is to survive, he needs to do what it takes to field a competitive team.

If that means dropping some of the "regular" players - so be it.

Barker can't be axed at the end of the season regretting that he put up with players who did not play for the team.

Do it Johnny, and do it NOW!!

..agreed, two wrongs don't make a right.. ....players should work harder to prove they are better than any trade they'd net.. ....especially in our team, hard work will make you indispensable..

How far we have fallen....
Excellent environment.. It's not the players.. Even though to the naked eye it seems like the players all want to leave because they're treacherous... Yes the players seem that way

But the club is rotten and stinks..

synners, who is wanting to leave? i'm not baiting you, so please dont go on a rant, i am genuinely curious

i understand that Hendo has been told he will be traded, and will want out becuause of that, and yarran seems to have the sooks up and will want out, but who else do you think wants out?

i really dont care who wants to leave as long it is not one of our youngsters or Krooze

I'm interested in Synners response too.....if he can be serious for a minute....
I think it's obviously hard to distinguish between poor form and poor attitude sometimes. Sometimes! The case in point for me is Menz. I still can't work out if he is going through a period of poor form which is fine for a young kid or if his desire and work rate is down.

No real response from Synners. Just more one liner nonsense negativity.

Ratten, Hughes, Rogers and Malthouse have ripped the heart out of this club with

1) woeful recruiting...where do we start???????????????????????????

2) Ratten...wet yourselves if you must about the fact that his record was better than Pagan's or MM's, and that we played finals, but answer this, "what legacy did he leave in terms of player development and leadership?"
+ his obsession about recruiting Warnock at the expense of Jacobs... and Brock. Paying overs for both

3) MM and his destructive man-managment (and I thought it was one of his better traits...yes, it was a wrong decision to appoint him. I saw that this year)
He severed relationships with Laidler, Betts, Garlett and Waite)...and Alan Richardson

Imagine tonight with Laidler, Betts, Garlett, Waite, Jacobs (and even one of just one of Talia, Fyffe, Darling, Hooker)

Thanks Crippa, but my point was based on Carlton only (don't care about Kangas...). 12 of our 18 players (2 thirds) had a low level or zero level of tackles. We are still playing way below what is needed in this area.

Many of these players are playing on the back line...

Well.. the club has let the players down hasn't it?
It hasn't created an environment for providing excellence..
You can go back fifteen years and move into now.. its the same... players look unhappy.

Its an unhappy club...

You're disagreeing?

I think he's just asking you which players do you think won't be at the club next year.
That's all.
