The only way Dew won't get the Adelaide job, IMO, is if Campo really does a super job.

Wouldn't rule out Worsfold.

But, having the Carlton FC on their CV doesn't appear to have greatly harmed Ross Lyon and Alan Richardson.

Yes, but they also had a lot of experience at other clubs before they got their senior roles. In Lyon's case we were still okay, but for Richardson in particular he has had experience at clubs a lot more successful than ours.

Sadly for Barker, there's just such a stench about so many aspects of our club in the last 10-15 years and that is why I'm so keen for some fresh new ideas.

A lot of people.

I certainly understand your question, though, because as I said our club has had such a stench about it in recent times.

The club is showing signs of embracing modern ways and that's exciting for a new coach. He can come in and be part of a new era. We're a proud club, a great club and the opportunity to start afresh, from ground zero, would and should appeal to any coach in waiting with ambition.

I hope we find the next Clarkson, not necessarily in terms of style and philosphy, but in terms of impact and ability to interpret today's game an, most importantly, to be as forward thinking.

It was bold and new to poach Barassi, but we've been living off that for way too long and the price of that success has been to struggle in backward thinking quicksand. Albeit after some very enjoyable and rather sustained success.

We need to be bold and forward thinking again.

Many complain that Murphy is not a great leader. Who have his role models been? In terms of the leadership required to build sustainable success he hasn't had any genuine role models at this club since he was recruited.

Some will point to Sticks, and perhaps if Sticks never entered our boardroom he could have been useful. Sadly for us he did enter the boardroom and his legacy as a great player has hindered everyone at the club in their ability to say "Sticks, mate, thanks, really, but would you please @#$%&! off from the board because you don't have a @#$%&! clue!"

The Messiah complex: Barassi-Kernahan–Pagan-Judd-Malthouse. It's not Juddy's fault he got caught up in it, but we need to move on from this thinking. And now!

/end rant.

On pure aesthetics I'd prefer someone like Dew - looks like he would happily hit up a six pack and knock out someone for looking at him slightly askance, all with a durry hanging out the gob. That would obviously translate into Us Recruiting well, developing kids and climbing the ladder by sticking resolutely to a hard core plan- a la Dunstall and Clarkson.

Or maybe I'm reading too much into it?

Hawthorn people will tell you that Bolton can deliver a spray as good as anyone, and due it being measured, calculated and not his normal persona it can have more of a positive affect, then if coming from someone who by nature is a regular ranter/raver type.

Clarkson didn't have bananas running his club... even if we found the next Clarkson he would be shut.
Actually any player worth their salt wouldn't be looking to come here ...and if they did should immediately look to leave.

Unless the club paid through the nose

Macca was asked whether Ratts might be in consideration at the press conference after the game. He said he had asked Ratts and Ratts said he wasn't interested in applying.

If McKay seriously did walk up to Ratts and ask him if he wanted the gig, then that makes him even more of a freeloading slimy douchenozzle than I originally feared. How dare he, after his hand in unceremoniously dumping Ratten (from behind Sticks' shadow, of course) after one injury-plagued year.

I want McKay out of our club. How the @#$%&! is he still there.... and how the @#$%&! is he actually a key stakeholder at the helm of the review underway? :banghead: :hitcomputer:

Shit, should we be concerned that Bryce Gibbs could go home AT ANY MINUTE to take the job there?

Or is he behind Barrie Robran and Christopher Pyne in this scenario?

Yeah really Rhino man? Would we get a compo pick for Gibbs left us?

If we would lets grab it!

Hard to take anyone seriously who was involved in last year's recruiting decisions.

Which is exactly why we shouldn't be active in free agency for a couple of years. In fact i would hope we don't even go down the trade picks for players route of a year or two. I'd rather we stockpile picks for a few years and get some kids in.

U serious lol

We going thru a big independent review and you think anyone here has a clue who the next coach is. You wouldn't be getting ange on the review if this wasnt going to be done properly. We would be a complete basket case.

The board does have the option of cancelling the review if they seen enough of barker to give him the gig.

 Lets book mark this page. If he doesn't coach at Carlton it will be because he accepted a job else where.

Bookmark all you like. It wont be any surprise if dew gets the job. It is out of barker and dew. Only about two other assistants in the hunt unless something comes out of left field. My point is that there is no done deal on the next coach and the fact you already mentioned he could coach somewhere else shows my original point that you know sweet fa and just trying to act like you know something. The club would be a complete basket case if the next coach was a done deal. Bring some facts if you have any.

Why would Dew take that Carlton job not the Adelaide job?
If he's best available deemed by both clubs hem wouldn't choose us..

The footy style at the moment seems to be a battle of the Roos/Lyon school v Clarkson school.

Clarkson school is killing them at the moment.

Move the ball quickly, open up the field, look for targets anywhere and honour them.

Freo (Roos/Lyon) are on top but recently got smashed against the Hawks (Clarkson) .
WCE (Clarkson) just smashed Swans (Roos/Lyon)
Hawks (Clarkson) just smashed the swans (Roos/Lyon)

Beveridge (Clarkson) just beat the Pies (pretty easily really but not reflected in the score) who's game is more like the Roos/Lyon game.

Didn't want to go to far back.

It also appears as though the Clarkson school have tweaked a few things that the defensive styles can't compete with.
