hope Barker doesn't trash his future prospects while doing the right thing by Carlton.

Pretty obvious we are not making winning our main objective .

You have to do more than just play kids and have a tackling kpi target. There needs to be some method and structure to the way we play. I am not an expert but I couldnt see that last night. If he were doing the right thing by the team, barker would be coaching the forwards to lead, the half backs to play on and to limit the backward kicking option while singling out those players who do not create an option. Having said all that what we are seeing is that the core issue with this club is list quality, a hang over of the Ratten years. The coaching issue is secondary. Watch how the forum begins to criticise our next coach for the same flaws under malthouse. I actually think we need to appoint the best development coach, with the fact that it may only be a 3 year appointment. Note the transition from Brian Dixon to Barrassi in 1972. History never repeats but it always rhymes

That is right, at least I call it as it is. You probably judge a coach on his media performances. Barker was played forward, coached our forward line an our forwards arent leading to the right spots. We arent scoring 10 goals a game. Get over the feel good factor and while you are at it what makes you an expert

None of these whiz bang assistants impress me ALA McCartney,Neeld,Watters etc...............do something radical like grab Sam Mitchell or Luke Hodge who are deadset senior coaches waiting to happen....................otherwise throw the kitchen sink at Clarkson.

No coach will succeed until we get real leadership into our group.

We have leadership coming through, we need players with skills to hit a target, not fumble, not panic to win games. It takes time to develop a list that addresses those points.

More insightful brilliance.
You couldn't wait to tell us how Malthouse would need years to clean up Rattens mess and you're laying the boots in to Barker after 6 games.
Funnily enough you weren't gobbing off after he won consecutive games but after hard fought losses against top 8 sides, you've got the knife out.

Its a pity for Barker we lost Judd
Juddy playing would have most likely got us over the line in a couple of these close ones. Couple that with Gibbs being out doesn't help.
Its very hard to get a real gauge on what is going on as this side is so inexperienced

i really hope we don't get anyone from the fremantle coaching program. they play such a negative gameplan. the 95 they scored last night was their highest score in 7 rounds of footy.

hopefully someone has some sense at cfc to identify the way we want to play, bold, running footy with an uncompromising never backdown mentality (like swans, hawks, west coast, even the dogs and saints are playing like this) ... and then get the coach who will perform this the best. ie find the coach who shares this mantra, as opposed to finding the coach they like the most, and then asking them to bend to ours.

Lloyd pre-dates Lyon's tenure at Fremantle.

Correct we are still cleaning up Ratten's mess. Just don't delude yourself about barker. What was so great about saturday night's performance?

What was so great? You do realise that freo are in top of the ladder with only two losses dont you?
We played the top team and were competitive for 3 quarters. That including the fact that we had a very young inexperienced team.
We can all drill down and look at the elephant through a keyhole and despise the yarran and henderson effort etc, without regard for the net result, which was, pretty acceptable.

Maybe he see's something you don't? Just maybe. He has the right to an opinion. If you don't agree argue the point not attack the person. Not once have you discussed any facts or reasons to support your opinion.

Exactly. There is one thing about the GWS list that I hope SOS brings to Carlton. The majority are very good clean ball users.

Not great but way more competitive than the first half of the year under MM, when with a far shorter injury list we manufactured a loss to the Lions and got walloped by 13 goals by Geelong and various other non-contenders

How does it compare to this time last year when I thought we were playing some decent football?

I think BV has supported his opinion many times in the past.
