from what i was told tonight barker is coaching to instruction and its about picking a few KPI's each game. (one non negotiable is 65+ tackles)
they are trying to instill confidence back into the group and they all think that playing in a way that limits the damage so to speak will do that.
honorable losses is the key now.
whereas before and after the port win they all thought winning and attacking was the way to go.
SOS had some words about that i believe.
our list is terrible though we do need a top 2 pick and we dont have the cattle to play attacking footy and win against better sides.
we really are a long way off unfortunately
So our forwards cant lead to space once in 4 qtrs?. That isnt talent, it is a lack of effort or bad coaching
Yeah, yeah. Lose under your hero Mick, it's the players fault. Lose under Barker, bad coaching.
Your bullshit is so predictable.
FWIW, yes we are undermanned but the players have to learn to play all facets of the game. That includes getting numbers back and using those numbers to run and transfer the ball forward. Its going to take time. Its an education for the players after 2.5 years of bullshit kicking to contests. The days of leaving 6 forwards in position are well and truly gone. The reality is we have to get numbers back and we have to learn how to utilise those numbers. Tom Bell probably kicked the ball away 6 times last night instead of giving it to a running option.
You can't coach those stupid decisions out of players. It takes repetitive training and continually facing those decisions in games before some players will grasp it. But it has to be persevered with. The other 17 teams are learning to play all facets of the game and we have to suck it up and take the time to catch up.
The past 4 weeks have been practice. Playing Hawthorn and Freo test your ball movement and decision making out completely. We need to put it down to experience and use the opportunity to see who is worth persevering with and who isn't.
