Well you may also not know that he is renowned in some circles for flogging his players and hence overtraining.

Remember when the Crows would have their mid season slumps under Craig? This was often said to be due to the periodisation of training leading into the finals i.e. huge volume of training mid season, a bit like another mini preseason. As a result some games were lost with theory was that they would fitter than all others on the last day....you had to get there first.

You also must know that Craig being linked with Walsh a cycling coach started a few other rumours as well.
Essendon* like.

So are we going from a club that targets the most experienced available .....MM, Pago, to the complete opposite? Surely at least playing at the highest level even for just 1 game is a prerequisite?
Or am I out of touch? Or is the board thinking that being radical is the solution to our problems?

Carlton has interviewed Simon Lloyd. Carlton has interviewed Simon Lloyd.

Is it supposed to sound more convincing the second time?

haha he must be exactly like Brittain! Have we established that Brittain couldn't coach because he never played a VFL/AFL game? Have we even established that Wayne Brittain couldn't coach?

"you know like.." - Wayne Brittain.

Looking at the US as an example and the best current coaches in basketball (Popovich) and football (Belicheck) never played their sports at at the top level and have been pretty much career coaches so it certainly can be done. It is a change in mind set though.

Interviewing a prospective coach for the job is something very new for Carlton, so maybe the first interview was a dress rehearsal for the interview panel.

Ever heard of a bloke called Jose Mourinho? How about Gerrard Houlier or Arsene Wenger? How about a bloke considered by many to be one of the greatest professional football (soccer) coaches of all time - Arrigo Saatchi who was never a professional player himself and when questioned about it answered:

Soccer based but have a read of this: http://www.fifa.com/news/y=2008/m=12/ne ... 75920.html

At the moment, Mourinho is arguably the best professional soccer coach/manager going around!

So, no i dont think you need to have been a professional player to be a great coach.

I would like to see how those blokes would cope if Matt Rosa was put on to tag Judd
They would struggle I give you the heads up

Change in mindset for supporters as well who are conditioned to believe in high profile 'would be' solutions
