Bit of a scrappy affair but I was very pleased with how we moved the ball.

Our goal kicking really let us down and its a worry missing so many opportunities. Granted its the price we pay for moving the ball quickly forward and we should straighten up in front of goal over time.

If that game showed me anything it showed me the rest of the competition doesn't think very highly of us. I think we've developed a "soft" reputation over the years and GCS really tried to exploit that.

Its an area of our game I truly hope we've turned a corner collectively. Hit the ball carrier and take him out with a tackle should be our mantra from here on in.

I never want to see another Carlton player run past the ball carrier again - ever. If they have the ball, they become a target, gang tackled and brought to ground if one alone can't do it. Hunt in packs and back each other.

Though it was a scrappy game at times, we stuck with our game style and moved the ball on quickly, which created loose players like Armfield and Everitt to capitalise on the opportunity.

Its not premiership football by any stretch of the imagination and good teams will punish us (not if) but when we make mistakes. But its a fantastic base to start with, playing to our strengths, which will improve over time.

I like what I'm seeing so far. We've got some ways to go and development is the all important area we've just got to get better at. Playing the kids is a fantastic start and I am finally seeing a TEAM go onto the park.

This business of doing the basics will produce results long term. Playing kids will produce results long term. If we move forward from here, develop well, recruit well and stick to the plan, I think we'll climb the ladder and surprise many in the not too distant future.

At last, there is hope!

GO BAGGERS!!!!

Listened to Triple M on way home post game -

Menz was off the ground for a long time as they were using an ultrasound to see if there was any structural damage. It was declared all clear. Docs suspected a knee cap injury or a broken tibula/fibula. But all good. Was subbed due to pain/precaution. Probably bone bruising.

Raines fined $1000 for punching Cripps. Awesome lesson for young kids.

Unfortunately not enough umbrage in the media to warrant a suspension.

Fair dinkum, if they are prepared to put a young bloke back on the ground with a suspected knee cap injury or a broken Tibia/Fibula then we seriously need to look at out medical practices and procedures. Don't care what anyone says on here or anywhere else....poor form if true.

Barker is correct. Gold Coast were appalling. The test for us is the next 2 weeks
If we want to be a top 4 side we must face the fact that Carrazzo, Curnow, White, Ellard and Rowe are coach killers.
Yes we need Rowe but minimum of white, carrazzo and ellard need to be delisted and if we are offered anything reasonable for curnow we should take it. I didnt see the stats but buckley, Graham, holman understand disposal efficiency. There has been some player development over the last 2.5;years and I think we might miss Rogers

Those players mentioned are exactly the players which won't get us to our next premiership, we need to slowly weed them out.

Last few years recruiting has actually been very decent.

Great to enjoy going to the footy again, and caring about Carlton again. Good crowd, frsutrating game. When we moved it quickly we looked good when we moved it slowly we looked ordinary. Bell was excellent and has improved enormously and has more improvement in him.Tuohy great and Yarran looked more interested. We shouldn't trade Yarran, players who can kick, don't funble and don't get caught are in short supply at the Blues. Rowe has been going well but was carved up by Dixon who could have had 6. Big K good. Levi kicked three but needs to get involved more and we need to get it to him when he is one out. Ellard has endeavour but his skills are way short of AFL, can't have he Carrazza and Curnow in the same side.

Wood was good but I'd rather use Levi as second ruck and opt for another mobile forward option. Everiit has been excellent up forward. Like to see Holman and BB get games.

The ultrasound cleared him of any damage hence he went back on field.

Someone mentioned it earlier elsewhere, but this is the most sustained effort I can recall in 10 or more years. Four games worth, in fact.

Its an absolute bloody joke. Cripps was down for a reasonably long time and even when he took his kick he hadnt recovered.
Punch some one in the guts when they dont expect it and thats ok but dont tackle someone and accidently hurt them and it is 2 weeks.

Pretty courageous team too the Suns. Lynch all brave arcing up to someone half his size and Raines with a cowardly punch on a kid 10 years his junior because he couldn't keep up with him.
