Mick failed to win this year, so he got the sack. Simple.
All he ''ruined'' was half a season.. IF that.

The only think I really blame Mick for (assuming it was his fault) is the recruitment of Jones, which was a waste of time.

Dale Thomas has been a bust, but Mick wasn't the person in charge of approving the $$ on the player contracts. And if we are really in a rebuilding phase, then paying Dale a bit more shouldn't be the end of the earth.

Responsibility for picking Boekhurst is debatable ...... but Blaine still might come good for us anyway.

Anything else is the fault of the CEO, Footy manager, and the board.

If anybody has "ruined" the past 2 and a half years, it's Andrew McKay.
Or the board.

You can add Everitt, Docherty
Rocca to coach Casboult
Engineered a finals win over Richmond
Kept Carlton competitive last year with a shocking playing list
He kicked us into the modern era when he told the board we needed a rebuild
You are correct - a bad half a season.
and Malthouse developed Cripps & someone developed Graham but didn't play him
Malthouse did a lot of heavy lifting and long term stuff that his predecessors couldn't

My brother and brother-in-law, both Collingwood supporters, were glad to see the end of him at Collingwood. Then they thought his coaching methods were outdated. We picked him up and 2 1/2 years later ended upon the bottom of the ladder. Good riddance Mick. Our improvement over the last couple of weeks prove that you were one of the main reasons why we are where we are.

The only player playing now that wasn't fit when he was coaching is Kreuz

Graham Buckley etc were all fit - he just didn't care to play them properly

Barker also doesn't have Daisy or Judd

That's really poor from Malthouse. No one from the media has the guts to call him on it though.

Has he ever been gracious?

My understanding is that Mick is a great guy to know personally but he hates to accept responsibility for anything. Would it kill him to simply say his best wasn't good enough during his tenure? He has any number of excuses but a guy who was big on pushing people to take responsibility for their actions, he takes none.
