Was pointless winning today hopefully thats it no more wins for this season.

#1 draft pick is very valuable in a shallow draft.

Surely you jest.

If we are winning it means the side is better, as well as individual players within it. Build a winning culture, you never know what is possible then.

63% game time, recovering from a back injury and it was a pretty physical contest; give him a spell and inject Menzel & Boekhorst into the midfield until one of them is tiring and then sub him on. Barker did the same thing with the ruck rotation and Walker yesterday.

As someone on radio said this morning, we wouldn't mind playing anyone now. Not saying we would win but the appetite is back.

I reckon Wallsy could get right back into the swing of things by writing an article calling Gary Junior as soft as the buttery croissants he's been enjoying for the past 12 months.

People talking about playing for the number 1 draft pick are way off. Look at history, how many #1 picks over the last 15 years have proved to be the best from that the draft. We need to forget tanking, aim at building a culture and a cohesive approach and have a recruiting team that make best use of any pick we have. I'd take pick 2 or 3 which is what is likely. GC have been better recently and will win games later in the season. I'd happily get a Judd, Pendlebury, Franklin, Pavlich, Fyffe, Brayshaw, Selwood Boak, etc as our first pick at #2 or #3.

I think Gibbs will be out.

Not sure if dropping Wood is wise ... Kreuzer looked ok on the weekend, but I'd prefer he didn't shoulder the number one ruck role just yet. Maybe Kreuzer stays forward and Hendo swings back ....

Or maybe one of the smaller defenders makes way for Jamison ...

Maybe Walker for Gibbs with Boekhurst the sub ?

@#$%&! that line of thinking, that's how you end up with competitions like the NBA where there's 30 teams and only half a dozen trying to win the @#$%&! thing.

agreed. just win and evey thing will look after itself.

not to mention this last saturday was a really enjoyable one watching carlton apply themselves and play for the jumper and each other. and it turn, it made for a great weekend.

i propose the notion, the next person who suggests we tank, we rock up to their house and burn it down.

i live in england - bring it on!!!

tank!!! :fight:

but seriously, i know one swallow doesnt make a summer, but look at all of the positivity on the site over the last couple of days due to this win.

play to win, not to lose and things will turn themselves around. there is talent on this list that will come to the fore now that malthouse is not trying to smother it with his ego. even if we lose, as long as play with intent there is hope. play to lose and we might as well shut the club down because none of us will care

B: Simmo Jamo Tuohy
HB: Docherty Rowe Yarran
C: Walker Cripps Carrazzo
HF: Bell Hendo Graham
F: Armfield Casboult Everitt

R: Wood Curnow Murphy
Inter: Buckley, Kreuzer, Menzel
Sub: Boekhorst

In- Boekhorst, Jamo
Out- Gibbs (susp), White

It'll be interesting to see if Jamo comes in or is given another week in the VFL. I wouldn't mind seeing him have another week in the VFL, but I suspect he'll be back this week. That means a choice between dropping White or Wood. It might make sense to drop Wood and use a ruck combination of Kreuzer/Casboult, with White freed up to play as a swingman or even time around the middle of the ground. However, ultimately I'm very reluctant to tamper with the current ruck/forward set up which seems to be working so White is the unlucky one.
