now, i never really accepted him as a carlton person, he always seemed like an external consultant to me. and like most, i thought it was time for him to go and am enjoying the fresh air under barker. though i do strongly believe that his aggresive turn over of our list from the off season of 2013 was required, and whoever takes us forward will benefit from mick's hard work.

the whole experience left me feeling more sympathetic towards him. public mick v private mick are worlds apart, i'd heard it before, but i experienced it yesterday.

Thanks jonny.

What would you have said to him Cimm?

Not sure what cimm would say to Mick but I'd have a word to his grand kids and suggest they head straight for the swings at every opportunity and forget about running around the perimeter of the park.

Nothing.

I've never really felt like approaching anyone well known.

If he'd come to me I wouldn't have talked footy. He's not a coach in that setting, just some guy with his grand kids.

I might even said "As you've seen, Carlton supporters are not as patient as the earth. That flower ox was a tad TOO slow."

To summarise:

- Brought in for a premiership, which ended up being the wrong fit
- Once the board knew they had to rebuild, Mick wasn't the man they wanted
- Mick knew this and became angry, completely flowering up this season

If they had given Mick an extension last year I am positive we wouldn't be 1-9, but that in itself isn't a reason to sign him up just because he cracks the sad's. If he had the side playing as they were 2nd half of last year he would have a job, most likely next year too.

Yeah probably would have been 0 - 10.

Mind you, his 30 year old game plan was ace. My dog used to patrol the boundaries too.

Geez... Touch dramatic? or just a bit tipsy?

Mick failed to win this year, so he got the sack. Simple.
All he ''ruined'' was half a season.. IF that.

The only think I really blame Mick for (assuming it was his fault) is the recruitment of Jones, which was a waste of time.

Dale Thomas has been a bust, but Mick wasn't the person in charge of approving the $$ on the player contracts. And if we are really in a rebuilding phase, then paying Dale a bit more shouldn't be the end of the earth.

Responsibility for picking Boekhurst is debatable ...... but Blaine still might come good for us anyway.

Anything else is the fault of the CEO, Footy manager, and the board.

If anybody has "ruined" the past 2 and a half years, it's Andrew McKay.
Or the board.

hmmmmm
yeah?
nah.
much, much more than just this year.
as for the Board, great contributors to the mess.
as to andy mack,
I have no frikking clue.
Maybe, though that much is wrongly perceived.
After all,
many were saying John Barker is crap too.
but is he?
turns out he is not too shabby with game plans, and presents well when representing us.
shows us all just how bad and wrong MM was for us.

Look at the happy shiny players everywhere
ooh...
is that REM I hear?
