Mick just deployed too many non defensive players, that is players not playing down back, in defensive roles. He had the balance out of whack to the point we often had players refusing to actually go get the ball because they were focused on their man. Sometimes this was just absurd - the ball would be right there, a meter away, and the Carlton player could easily go get it, but they'd chose not to , instead following their man. Now, under Barks, the players have more freedom but understand they are responsible for applying an all round team pressure, and this is manifesting in greater chasing and in turn tackles. The tackling today was exceptional but also nasty. Unsociable like the Hawks when they started their rebuild. That was the best tackling effort by CFC for many years. How good was Bells repeated tackles on the HFF late in the game? He just willed himself to contests. Graham also. He did the same in the last game, laying at keast really critical tackle in midfield. He played like an angry man today. It is great to see Graham and Bell grow.

Great Day. Enjoyable to watch. Bloody cold though.

Too many good players to mention. Although I will mention Graham. Good player that kid.

Other positives will be improvement in Kruezer, Yarran & Gibbs. They just looked rusty.

Nice to enjoy the footy again.

Think its worth pointing out how good Travis Boak was in that last quarter for them. Nearly single handedly dragged a lifeless uninspiring team over the line in the last. Probably the best individual effort I've seen all year. Unlucky.

So true Rhino, he's a great leader in the mould of Selwood.

I hope Murphy can lift to this level

Yeah what a shame. I wonder if they ever gave Judd the same credit.

Rhino just couldnt help himself by not putting a negative comment out there. Ever thought Carltons pressure and tackling they put on today made port play lifeless as you put it. Carlton just wanted it more today. Give credit where credit is due. Our midfield smashed theirs today apart from a patch in 2nd and the last half of the forth.

Who gives a flower if boak had a great 4th qtr. Cripps smashed it 4qtrs. Enjoy the win is all im saying

Nice to be at the game with my son and get to cheer SEVENTEEN goals
Didn't think we'd ever kick more than about 12 after MM
Told my son we needed 3 in the last to guarantee the win, after Everitt missed a very gettable one was very nervous.....
So nice to sing the song and high five everyone

An underrated positive was kicking 17.8. At half-time we were 10.3.

No doubt a result of playing through the corridor more rather than around the boundary.

Cripps was outstanding
Graham shows more each week
Bell isn't the most skilful player out there, but he seems to end up in the right spots and you can never fault his endeavour
Curnow I thought was really good
Rowe was fantastic on Schultz
Kreuzer appears to be single grabbing his marks a lot better

I didn't believe our list was as terrible as everyone was making out. It needs a lot of work, but the future isn't as bleak as it appeared a month ago.

How do we feel about Yarran's game?

Got that lucky HTB decision/chasedown, otherwise, thought he was pretty poor.

With a mixture of good and bad, I'd say his game was average.

Wanted to mention Rowe. Thought he was great today. So sure in the air. A long way from earlier in the year where he barely looked like a footballer. Funny thing confidence.
