I thought the umpiring was terrible.

Great win with very little input for Gibbs (not including the tackle on Gray) and Yarran.

Cripps, Buckley, Bell and Graham were excellent, luckily we still have about half a season to further develop this group. Graham and Buckley's development was being stalled whilst playing in the VFL.

I like the way Bell is being used, mainly forward in the first half and then rotated through the midfield in the second half, provides a lot of grunt and run when most players are slowing up.

Like we'd know about one player dragging a lifeless uninspiring team over the line in the last quarter.

So true Rhino, he's a great leader in the mould of Selwood.

I hope Murphy can lift to this level

Tackling, tackling, tackling
Nothing was more infuriating this year than our insipid tackling. Ferocious today.
Cripps! Lucky MCG isn't a big ground ...
And player like Graham gets a proper opportunity ... who would have thought ...?!
Barker has lifted the veil of fear and given the players something to believe in.
Probably lose more than we'll win but endeavor like that will get people back to games.
And it's the kids.
Watching Mick?

Yep. Tackling was brutal. Won us the game in the end, with everyone contributing. Glad to see Menzel also join in at the end.

Thought Curnow was fantastic. Carrazzo OK, Bell a complete mixed bag but the positives took over in the end. Docherty and Graham huge.

Patrick Cripps though is on another planet. There is nothing that JPK can do that he can't, and I love Kennedy. 30+ and double figure clearances are one thing, but to add 11 tackles. Ridiculous.

Players tweet about him every week. This week it was Dan Hanneberry. I don't think everyone gets it yet, mainly because casual watchers only see the flashy things.

Brett Anderson from Inside Football was still claiming prior to this week that he isn't in Hogan's league for the Rising Star award. Not even close.

The fact he is a leader and has a great head on his shoulders makes him the complete package.

I'm too old to get attatched to players, but if he every left that might be the end of me!....

Finally hoping Blues21 makes an appearance in this thread....

Yeah what a shame. I wonder if they ever gave Judd the same credit.

Cripps was in full beast mode today.
His clearance and tackle numbers for a guy who's played 10 odd games are astonishing.
Wasn't the first time either but seems to be a guy who will bring it week in week out, no mental fragility there like some others...

Cripps should win rising star seeing as carrazzo is ineligible he is an absolute beast of a unit best recruiting/draft decision in a long time. Loved the game saving mark by Docs at the end there. Graham - whom I've always thought may not be up to it today proved me wrong. 4 holding the ball decisions. 4. Great tackling great want for the ball. Also loved Buckley's triple effort in the 3rd quarter that caused an eventual ball up.

Also loved when the umpire took the mark in the second quarter was right in front of us from a port free to a throw in which we scored a goal from.

Barker decision to rest Kreuz at the start of the last had me guessing but good decision to take wood off as sub and put Kreuz on for the rest of the game.

Great gutsy win!

But stupid to bring on Walker and just use him as s forward, effectively playing one short in the last quarter.

Great win from the boys. I thought we would win before the game and did. Good to see we are playing hard nosed football again.

Gc next week, we should be looking at b2b!

Credit to Barker.
Had the obligatory bounce after he took over with two credible losses but he got the side up today and carried that momentum of better effort through to today.
Got Port at a good time but he clearly has the boys playing a better brand of footy.
