True.

He gave me some very special memories as a fan. I will never forget the unbridled joy of the Judd thread here over that week or two when he was making his decision to join Carlton. The greatest thread in my time on this board.

I went to the first practice match he played in once he was fit (vs Bulldogs I think), there were thousands of people there. I'm pretty sure SEN broadcast the match live, it was a warm Friday afternoon and the hope in the air was palpable. Pratt opened the door to hope, Judd swept away the dust from the room.

And then the games. The final vs Sydney, the Royal Wedding game, the final vs Essendon*, the final vs Richmond. The snapped goal vs Geelong. The countless clearances, bursting out of the centre square. The calmness he brought to the disorder surrounding him on the ground; seeing an angle for a releasing handball, leading a forward to the perfect position with his pass and always, always standing up in the biggest moments of the biggest games.

There was also the stamp of legitimacy he gave to our entire list. Captain of the All Australian team, AFLPA MVP, Brownlow medals. Every other player walked taller with Judd in the team, every opposition player and fan worried about a moment, a quarter or a game of brilliance.

For the last seven years he was the main reason I've gone to games. He's been the only true champion we've had since Kouta retired. I have a feeling we may be witnessing the next champion of our club spread his wings in the competition, and that while premature the batten has passed to the next great of our club. No coincidence that it was Judd taking Cripps under his wing and teaching him the finer points of the craft.

I just hope Judd isn't lost to the club forever. While he's said he's not interested in coaching, somehow the group may still benefit from his knowledge and experience.

Thanks for adding so much to my enjoyment of this club.

Judd played 1 more game than Kouta.
Both Judd and Kouta played only 1 game after the sacking of Malthouse and Pagan.
In Judd's last game Carlton lost by 9 points, in Kouta's Carlton lost by 10 points.
Judd had 6 possessions in his last game, Kouta 7.
Judd kicked 228 goals, Kouta 226.

And if you add Judd's age and Kouta's age it comes to double the age that Lee Harvey Oswald was when JFK was shot. Eerie, really, if you think about it.

We ll miss the Champ terribly.
His Superhuman efforts over the years have given us all so much joy.
Hope he Club can somehow offer him some sort of P/T player development role to help the kids going forward.

I've posted previously that I have been privileged to see the final games of some true Carlton Greats in recent history.

Nicholls, Jesaulenko, Doull, Johnston, Kernahan, Williams, Silvagni, Bradley, Koutoufides, no higher praise can I give Judd than to include him in this company

My only concern and this is from a club perspective is that we've always had someone to pass the torch
on to in that cavalcade of legends.

I fear that at this time that there is no one to pass this torch onto now.

Thanks for the memories Chris Judd.

If either of them accepted the torch from the hot end I'd consider it.

A humble legend of the game stranded 21 shy of his 300th game through no fault of his own. Yet a scum player is carried to 400 games on the back of a corrupt clubs obsfucation and the influence of the AFL hierarchy.

Gutted. Guttered even.

Fev got us thru the dark days. Gave the fans a show even in losing.

Juddy got us into the finals and gave us hope. It could of been a lot darker without him. There will be another player to do that.

CJudd - 3 votes for your time at Carlton. Thank you for the joy you brought.

Awesome player on the field but for mine, an even more awesome figure of the field.

Set a real standard of integrity off the field that is sadly lacking from many. He is a born leader, and when he talks, you just have to listen.

Thanks Juddy.

Have been blessed to watch him in the Navy Blue. Thank You CJ5.

Its sad for him to go out this way. I was actually starting to hope that he would play on again in 2016 (and he's form this year warranted that!)

However, with that said, i'm looking forward to a Post-Judd Carlton. It's time.
Don't get me wrong, i LOVED having him at this club. But we need to move on.

Thanks Juddy!

i'm too old to have heroes, but for Chris Judd i'll make an exception. an unbelievable player, and i couldn't believe our luck when he chose Carlton. I'm sorry we couldn't get him that flag, but he gave all of us supporters many reasons to smile and cheer. i've teared up today, reading all the tributes from the football world. there's probably no one more respected in the game. as a fan, i've been dreading this day, but inevitably, here we are. Thanks Juddy, you are a true champion.
