I also went to the "Afterparty" with my kids. Thought I'd give them something to be happy about with all this losing.
I have to say job very well done.
The host who was a Carlton employee started a trivia contest at about 5.15 before the players got there so there was a fair wait with nothing going on but there was excessively priced refershments offered by the hotel.
Once the players got there, there was a good 45min where you could circulate and get photos and autographs. All players accessible except Murphy showed up last minute. Yarran Thomas and Judd not there.
The players were great, very approachable and accomodating. My kids had a ball. They also had a guy making balloon animals and objects, a DJ and a caricature artist.
Then they got Barker, Murphy, Docherty and Menzel to get up and be interviewed.

As I said, my kids loved it which is all I could ask. Well done Blues.

Well. You wouldnt expect Juddy to be there given the circumstances?

When Judd went down, it was pretty obvious that he was in severe distress. Me and a few guys around me were wondering why there was no stretcher coming.
Then you see the doctor getting Judd to his feet and trying to support him walking 120m to the bench. By this stage I was pretty distressed myself. I thought this was farcical and dangerous. Then the umpire quite rightly starts play because the doctor didnt call for the stretcher. Now its dangerous.
Judd collapses again and finally they call for the stretcher and the car comes after a good 3-4 min after he falls.

It was like a circus. Given the way our medical staff has treated injuries in the past, I was pretty incensed.

Then at the club function, I was telling the guy standing next to me and he told me I was being unfair to the medical staff and Judd deserved the chance to walk off on his terms.

Was I being unfair??

No.

The rules are there for a reason. Doesn't matter who it is. We would have been a man own for another 2 minutes for him to get off the ground.
