If Barker can get them playing like this every week, would be a certain coach next year....
Hope not. That's what the Carlton of the past 10 years would do though. Saves them actually having to do a proper search.
The players are currently in their "ding dong the witch is dead" phase and are running like gazelles. No matter what, the club needs to do the right thing for once and hire the best guy for the job after a thorough search and interview process, and if that reveals Barker to be the guy for the job, then so be it.
Personally I would prefer someone from outside the club with a completely fresh perspective and new ideas, and Barker has been present for too many of this club's poor on (including his own) and off field decisions for my liking.
Aslong as the players are putting in, playing to a gp and competitive each wk, then it doesnt really matter who coaches the next 3 yrs. Malthouse has done a lot of damage to our list that we need a few yrs to rebuild. Losing the players we had and gaining jaksh, tutt, whiley, liam jones, cam wood and daisy have basically put the club on the backburner. Apart from cripps, we haven't got any 200 game players except for jaksh in our last draft. Jaksh was ok, but a real waste of a no 6 or 7 pick. Usually you get superstars in those picks.
Anyway, who ever is hired, we will sack that person and bring in another Malthouse type as the next messiah. If ross lyon or clarko are available then, we will be giving them the keys to the club. But it would be good to see if they can run an interview process. Very ironic the best assistant available is ratts, everyone else is an unknown. Except for barker that is on trial now
