really liked the passion that the players brought yesterday. wanna see that every week. Special K is the heart and soul of this team. boy, how we've missed him!! But, we have too many poorly skilled players. they need to be weeded out asap. Despite the shattering news about Juddy, yesterday wasn't all bad.

I left the house for the game yesterday saying to my wife, "Could be home before the game actually finishes" and expecting to lose but actually left the ground pissed off that we lost - which was a strangely refreshing feeling.

In the early part of the game I was screaming for Hendo to be put into defence but by the end of the game I was happy to be proven wrong - especially how he was generalling the forward line and having his leads honoured.

Everything else being equal, an in-form and fit Jamo would have meant a win.

We had them.

I just watched the game again. Really enjoyed nearly the whole game.
It was refreshing.

We nearly got them. You had reason to be pissed off. Jamo would've made the difference.
Judd in the last could have helped too.

Great game to watch, despite the loss.

Yarran instead of Tutt probably would've been enough to get over the line. Tutt had a few turnovers that turned into Adelaide goals.

Watched enough games of footy to know luck and momentum are seldom apart.

We got reamed by the umpires in that last. We had all the run in that last quarter also.

Go figure.

Watched the game on TV at a local AFL club, where unfortunately the horse racing gets precedence over anything else on screen. Even the AFL.

In other words, watched the game without volume.

Despite the result, and the lack of commentary, the game was a beauty.

But listening to the highlights package, gotta say that Eddie's commentary is pretty good indeed, and added to the spectacle.

Strange feeling being so excited so deep into the last quarter. Usually fast forwarding by that stage.
Great lift in effort... I like Barker saying though that we should limit the praise, that type of effort should be the expectation.

On the commentary, Eddie was almost patronising in his exuberance. Maybe it's just me though, I hate him so much.

I feel like an idiot supporting MM the way I did when it is now obvious that he was a massive part of the problem.
Happy to admit I was wr wr wr wrong lol

Yep, admit I too supported Mick and was I prepared to waite for better result.
Shocked at what's unfolding, I was so wrong to think that.
Our team would have been decimate had one more trade period gone by.
That's in the past, upward and forward.

I truly fear this is nothing more than new coach honeymoon period and we'll go back to insipid performances not long after the break.

I hope I'm wrong.

For the first time in a long time I actually cared about a game, and the Blues, released from the deadening yoke of Mick's ego, looked like they cared too. As JB said , that effort is the baseline, but given it hasn't been there it was good to see it restored. And for the first time in a long time all the players seemed to have been reading the same play book. Cripps is fast becoming everyone's favourite. I thought Everitt was very good, as was the captain and great to see big K back. When he gets fitness it will be time for him to be first ruck. Big K and Levi crowded each other, needed to get Levi one out to exploit size mismatch with Cheney.

Kicking and ball handling dismal at times. Loved Tutt's effort and endeavour and energy but his disposal was awful, and Tommy Bell is developing well but seems to want to have a shot anywhere within 60 metres.

We lack talent but at least with MM and his 100tonne ego gone, there is room for the players, and the supporters have something to care about.

No you are spot on Deags. Eddie is a Collingwood cheer squad member masquerading as a commentator. If he sold his insincerity for a $ a kilo he would be even richer than he is. Note the way when 'praising' Juddy he had to mention the chicken wing and the pressure points, wonder if he mentions Swan's assault conviction when he comments on him.

Not sure if mentioned elsewhere but the Social Club function for members at the old Hilton was well done. Credit here.

What was the spirit like in there?
Good turn out? After the game?

Do tell.

Yes, spirit was good and good numbers. I think the effort from the game helped.
Players walker around and chatted to all the supporters. Very accessible. Barker gave a good talk on stage.
It kind of felt like it`s not a natural thing for us to hold something like this but we are learning.

It's fantastic to have these types of things happening and I applaud the effort..... but it makes it all the more infuriating that they can't go the full mile and give the members a say in who sits on the clubs board.

'Tutt tried.

That's probably better than a half-arsed Yarran

I also went to the "Afterparty" with my kids. Thought I'd give them something to be happy about with all this losing.
I have to say job very well done.
The host who was a Carlton employee started a trivia contest at about 5.15 before the players got there so there was a fair wait with nothing going on but there was excessively priced refershments offered by the hotel.
Once the players got there, there was a good 45min where you could circulate and get photos and autographs. All players accessible except Murphy showed up last minute. Yarran Thomas and Judd not there.
The players were great, very approachable and accomodating. My kids had a ball. They also had a guy making balloon animals and objects, a DJ and a caricature artist.
Then they got Barker, Murphy, Docherty and Menzel to get up and be interviewed.

As I said, my kids loved it which is all I could ask. Well done Blues.

Indeed
How do we make it happen whilst still enjoying the fresh enthusiasm from our players?
