Crows kick straight and it's a regulation 5 goal win... Let's not kid ourselves... Spare me the good effort crap as that should be non negotiable. Congrats to Barker for making a point of it. We're playing off the new coach syndrome and it will fall away quickly if they can't snag a few wins soon.

Our skills are still substandard regardless of game plan... One meter short kicks, handballs to shoe laces etc... Smashed them with the uncontested ball which resulted in 9 fewer scoring shots... This list needs an overhaul regardless of who coaches next year.

Our crowd support was pathetic... Comfortably outnumbered by an interstate team.

Good to see kids get a run and do well... Kruezer back... Cripps keeping me sane

Judd... when it rains it pours... shit season keeps getting worse... glad I went along to see the champs last game but it sucks that someone that gave so much to this club had to end his career like that... His professionalism will be missed as we try and rebuild

If we went along today hoping we could get off the bottom, we at least achieved that - Suns now have a worse % than us, mission accomplished.

It's a great game to watch when they have a crack. Now we have something to work with. We just need to work on the skills and decision making and then we will win games. Well done Barks! You deserve the credit.

And to think some of the so called experts (e.g. Jonathan Brown) said that we should have re-signed Malthouse for the next couple of years to manage our rebuild. :screwy:

Before we all get too head over heels about Barker.

This week says more about the Mick years. He would have rather have the likes of Graham and Buckley rot in the VFL than give them a decent crack. He ripped the heart and soul out of the club and demoralised almost everyone else.

The club's biggest ever mistake

Really enjoyable day at the G. Saturday afternoon there is always my favourite.

Effort was good but we still lost. In fairness Adelaide looked flat but it was a contest.

Positive is we look better realised from the MM defensive style. Kids like Cripps, Buckley, Graham getting full games and showing some potential.

Negatives, still a loss and we lack depth and class. Plus people thinking and "honourable loss" is okay really annoy me. Is this what we have become?

Nothing changes for me. List needs and overhaul and we need class kids.

IMO we will win another 3-4 games this year but shouldn't change what needs to be done.

Reckon we'll win more than that. For us it's like round 1 again coming off the practice matches, as that's all the effort we were producing. Once they re-learn the running game properly, together with the match fitness that comes with it, composure will come as will the wins.

Unfortunately, we sunk so low under Mick that an honourable loss is the first step of a long road back. It's pleasing without being pleasing if one understands that.

While they were kicking points we were kicking them out on the full, or getting them smothered in the goalsquare causing 12pt turnarounds (interesting alone given we only lost by 9pts). then there was Curnow missing from just metres out. So, no, it woiuldn't have been a regulation 5 goal win. We can see it went down to the wire.

410 disposals haven't checked but that would have to be 100 more than any other game this year and probably last
Uncontested up to 235
A massive shift in tactics and a more competitive result.
Pretty simple you can't score if you don't have the ball and they can't if you have it.
Loads of work to do but they are playing better
Think we will win 5 to 6 games in back half of the year even without Juddy

Yeah good post. There were a lot of chances we blew that don't show on the scoreboard. And of course the Maggots made sure we lost. Just some terrible calls in the last. Maybe it's only Bark's honeymoon that is making the difference in attitude etc, but who cares.....it's so refreshing.

I am buoyed by the game.
It was just so good to be excited watching us play.
may the spirit continue.
I expect it will, as Gibbs, Jammo & Yaz are coming back, which means less hacks in the team.
I hope the passion will be contagious to the incoming players.
I expect crowds will start coming back after that effort too.
The only problem is how to keep pressure on the board and get the change we want,
while being happy about the positive game style.

Big call Jim. More than 4 wins in the remaining 12 games.

The effort has been better and the style is more enjoyable to watch but I think people are getting ahead of themselves. We are still not very good. With MM gone the shackles have been taken off. We look like a side playing with no pressure on them.

Just keep playing the kids. The rest of the year needs to be about sorting out the list and getting experience into our kids.

How weird was that incident where the ball stopped dead on the line and Walker was standing there ready to take the kick-in then had to throw the ball over the line when he was tackled?

It was mostly down from what I saw, especially coming out of defense. Zac, Docherty, Walker and Rowe always provide two or three clangers per game and unfortunately Simpson is the only reliable disposer of the ball by foot. The amount of times Docherty & Bell kick out on the full is ridiculous.

Most disposals since Rd 12 2012.

we are still second last and deservedly so

still have a poor list and that won't change for three years

at least yesterday gave us some hope

that's all you can ask for at this stage

Thought it worked well today personally. See how it progresses over the year though. Casboult should remain as the permanent forward for now.

Thought it worked well today also, but probably only due to having one less tall down back as well, which in turn lead to Jenkins looking remotely competent as well.
