no. you're outright wrong. he had personal problems, was depressed and received zero support from the coach, club and staff.

not sure if you've ever been in contact with depression, but pretty much everything – including playing footy – takes a secondary role and a big back seat in your life when it comes knocking.

all gartlett needed was support.

So Braithy, how do you know Carlton did not provide support and help to Garlett? Or are you just guessing?

Is there a source for this? I didn't know he'd been diagnosed with depression.

No- one may want to come and play for us (yet), and no-one seems to be putting their hand up to coach us either
At present however, I like the idea that we have someone from within taking his opportunity. Quite unknown, unproven, yet so far, well spoken and solid in his presence. Seems to be taking up his authority already.
Regardless of win/loss this year, will watch with interest as to how he engages the playing group and develops the synergies needed to bind what talent we do have together. This could be a welcomed (as opposed to nightmare) moment that has already found us.

Could lead us to a tower of triumph with his synergistic thinking

Collingwood High Performance Manager/Club Psychologist 2005-2009
Fremantle Senior Development Coach 2010-

I was wondering about Simon Lloyd. He's the one out of the nine that are doing the Level 4 coaching accreditation that we know little about. I hope he is in the frame near the end. I like the fact that he has done a lot of work with younger players because hopefully we will be drafting a lot of them.

And his father played for Carlton.

Like Monga, probably barracked for them too

Had a break up

But most still manage to take themselves to work each day and some even thrive.
Its just another case of someone wanting to make someone else responsible for their actions.

Highly rated at Fremantle for his talent ID and development work.

Even if he's not head coach material, he should be sounded out and offered a better deal than what he has at Freo.

Stu dew, Leigh Tudor, Brett Kirk, Blake Caracella.
Someone who can relate to the players..
Does Yarran prefer to play half forward??
Does Menzel want to play in the midfield??
Talk to the players and listen to them..
Communication is the key, if players want out then fu<# them off...

Worth picking up as a development coach or line coach.

Let's put a line through him and Jono Brown. Brown was screaming for us to kick long along the wing to our forwards, who apparently should be taking marks to relieve pressure, and to kick along the boundary and knock it out to reset out of defence.

Pretty sure I've seen that game plan before.

I don't think Barker is the man.

We need fresh eyes from outside this club. Would be Dissapointed if we appointed barker, despite how he goes. He has certainly bought back some enthusiasm and fight though.

yeah, right... and for some people a breakup, especially when kids are involved can be a trigger point for clinical and chronic depression and suicide. not everyone's the same, and that's kinda the point.

Bluey (ch7 gameday) really, really, really wants the job

3 things he'll do...
1... Get the board, club and player leadership group to define what we want to stand for and achieve... same page etc
2... Draft, draft, draft... look to trade out
3... Make sure everyone knows their role... when we have the ball, when we don't, off field etc

Pretty sure most applicants will be saying similar... how do you choose the right one?
