Garlett, waite, robinson are worth a couple of wins
Betts a great player worth 1 or 2 wins
Collectively they wouldnt get us to top 8 and honestly the first 3 are either old or average
Its rear vision mirror stuff. Move on

Throw Laidler in there too. We knew he could play.

Garlett didn't play last year
Robbo had himself rubbed out a bit
Waite was dropped for half the season or something
And a slow Laidler was exactly what we would have needed today.

Meh, if you think all clubs don't sound out opposition players when they've still got with plenty of time to run on their contracts I've got a bridge to sell you.

Something certainly seems to have caused the U turn in Micks stance.

Sounding out, yes.

Signed up, no.

It was clear to me that Mick's use of the words "stitched up" was meant to be interpreted as "signed contract" … thereby creating another flashpoint to lead to his sakcing.

Yes, probably a deliberate grenade from Malthouse.
The AFL's rules about contacting opposition players are pretty pointless though, too easily ignored.

The same critics giving it to us for Eddie would be doing the same if he'd stayed and was getting the Adelaide $ kicking 0.4 goals a game - as he would be for us.

That's cr@p...fair result would have been that Trigg get suspended/sacked and Betts told to go back to Carlton! Adelaide lose 4 years of draft picks and a big fine, come to think of it Essendon* as well! Carlton get 3 years of priority 1st round draft picks as compensation!

It wasn't vindictive or deliberate by Malthouse, it was just another case of him being dishonest. No surprise there.
He was trying to rid himself of any responsibility in the loss of Betts. Now he's backing up the truck.

Of course no one will have the balls to tell Mick Eddie was a restricted free agent and they could have easily kept him instead of chasing Daisy. Lets not piss on his precious legacy.

Yeah, nah, nice try BV.

In "The Interview" Mick made it clear that he had no input into the salaries the players get paid.
