In other news. Bomber says "hmm"

Never a hope anyway. Dont want anyone that lost the passion once. This task is not for the half-hearted:

One can take an educated guess on a song lyric from certain genre and appreciate it in our situation.

I thought Triggsy handled the Betts thing quite well. Perhaps he was a little defensive, but given the gravity of the allegation, that's probably fair enough.

So you were ok with the nervous twitch sweating and blushing?? :P

Bomber was spot on with the major problem we have attracting the very best to all levels of our club.
We know what needs to be done.
Will it happen though?

I'll have to watch it again, but my initial reaction was that he handled those questions with the confidence of someone who knew he had nothing to hide.

I'm backing the same horse. In the same way I back horses. NFI, but good odds and a gut feel.

The fact he had a blow up with Crazy Vossy at half time on Sunday has only increased his reputation in my eyes.

I agree. Given his personal history, it's understandable that there would be a strong reaction from Trigg to the claim. I thought he handled that part of it well. The fact there was barely a follow up questions (there might have been one further question at the time, and then someone circled back to it at the end of the presser) suggests the same.

It was a shoddy effort from Malthouse that I think most people have seen for what is was, lashing out and trying to cause a bit of collateral damage on the way out. I hope Whately grills him on this today.

Hello all,

I know this may be a touch premature, but as we are pretty much going to sack Mick Malthouse at the end of the year (presumably if we don't make finals) who will we install as the new coach?

Which coaches are in the running?
What coaching attributes should we chase?
How much should they be paid?
Should we try and steal a current senior coach?

No words of thanks to Dane for having the foresight to start this thread only last month.

You picked this Dane.

Not sure, but it was in full public view. Might be common for assistants just as it is for players, but it's unusual for such a thing to not happen behind closed doors.

Voss is dirt at the moment here, but a lot of it is purely based on Port in 2014 with no Voss = good, Port with Voss = shit, therefore Voss = shit.

The raps on Nicks are huge and there is a growing worry that after losing the ilk of Richardson and Walsh that they can't afford to lose another good man.

What influence assistants have is always hard to gauge, but it's a wide spread view over here that for example Sanderson's 'success' in 2012 was mainly attributed to Dean Bailey and Adelaide should have gone to greater lengths to find him a replacement.

Nicks was a big contributor to the Bloods culture of the mid 00s. He has also been credited for changing the culture amongst the Port players.

He has a team defence ethos, but also believes it needs to be balanced with a daring attacking game similar to the style he played.

It's also fun to have a 'my man' when watching from the outside, but apart from a possible avatar change and getting his family crest tattooed on my back I'm not going to go to extreme lengths to push for his appointment.

I'll back whoever in and reserve the right to change my mind at any time once it inevitably goes arse up.... :donk:

I'd have him in a heartbeat. Won a flag at Port & one at the Hawks. Was raised in the awesome winning culture of Central Districts when they won a zillion flags in the 2000's.

Would've had interaction with Clarkson when he coached the Dogs & then the Hawks.

Just has that winning culture. I'd then get the club to throw a heap and get the Gowen brothers over here as assistants. They'd harden the lads up and any man buns would be banished....

The history is pretty impressive. Played under Clarkson, coaching at Sydney. Was he at Port Adelaide in their flag as well? Hasn't spent a lot if any time in clubs who wouldn't be considered excellent.

Based on some comments here, Nicks also sounds intriguing.

Dew was a cracking kick of the footy too. Might be able to iron out our abysmal disposal issues.
